I randomly entered this wine shop walking in the city. Great choice. Very good selection of wines. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff. Gilles was not here but the young lady who assisted us was very helpful and spoke french as well (my native language)

Wide ranging array of products, and an owner who knows the wines well.. We had a case of Brunello shipped to South Carolina at a better price than we can get here in the states, It was well packed, arrived safely, and with a couple of days notice of arrival date so we could be sure to store it safely. Many of the better Italian wines have less availability in the states. After you shop, take in the spectacular scenery in Castellina.

This wonderful Wine merchant is a must place to visit if you are in Tuscany anywhere near Castellina in Chianti. The selection of wines and knowledge of wines by Gilles in particular is outstanding and depending on how many you buy the shipping costs less and nothing at all if you buy 36 bottles. Wonderful wines well worth a try

We had a holiday booked to Tuscany.
Usually we travel from the UK by car so can take back home as many bottles of wine as the car can carry. On a plane journey with hand luggage we had zilch capacity.
We found 'Enocota le Volte' on Trip Advisor before we left the uk.

WOW!!
What a find, we knew we had to buy 36 bottles for 'free shipping', but finished up buying 48.
The owner, who is French, advised us on what we wanted to our budget. After about 8 tastings we decided on what we wanted. Payed on credit card, gave our address. He asked us when would get home and planned the delivery.
3 days on our return we had 8 boxes of 6 bottles delivered. So well packed and well delivered.
I would 100% recommend to do this process.

I first discovered this enoteca four years ago and have been an annual visitor since. Italy is full of places to buy wine - supermarkets, bars, vineyards and the ever-present enoteca but le volte is right up there with the best.
The personal service, expert but never intrusive comes in faultless English ( I am determined to learn Italian- it's the least I can do ).
Wine tasting, accompanied with delicious nibbles is wonderful and, best of all, there is no charge for shipping as long as you buy more that 36 bottles ( which is very easy ) and, rather disturbingly, as long as it being sent within the EU!! I haven't discussed what will happen when we leave but hopefully an arrangement can be reached.
The gelato is now in a bigger space right next door and the space it used to occupy is a deli with the most wonderful array of cheeses.
Can't wait for next years visit.

Aleandro offered us a fabulous wine tastings and gave us recommendations for vineyard to visit in the area. All of the wines he recommended ended up being some of our favorites! And the gelato shop next door has the best gelato in the area. Highly recommend!

Can't speak to the enoteca, although it looked nice and had a lot of other kinds of things besides wine. At the back of the shop is the BEST gelato!!

Great Italian wine selection, plus olive wood kitchen items, spices etc - and you can have a lovely gelato from them as you browse. The owner speaks fairly good English which is a help, and he shipped a big box of wines, wood ware ands spices to us in the UK (using UPS)... and the wine arrives without duty or VAT!

I discovered Le Volte three years ago and have visited every year since. Each visit has been better than the one before and I expect it will keep getting better with each visit to come. initially I had to explain that Northern Ireland was indeed part of the European Union and therefore eligible for the free shipment of wine.Once that was sorted out I went about the very enjoyable experience tasting some of the best wine it has ever been my pleasure to drink. The advice offered was expert and welcome and the whole experience was brilliant. Wine ordered and paid for, we went to a lovely restaurant across the road for a fabulous Wild Boar stew and more wine!
The owner and his family speak excellent English and really know their stuff.
To crown the whole day, they also have a small ice cream shop attached to the enoteca and if there's anything the Italians do as well as wine,it's ice cream. So we went back after lunch and had our pud amongst the wine.
