One of the three Sirens saw by Ulysses
Aug 2020 • Couples
The legend of the beautiful island tells that Leukosia was one of the three Sirens saw by Ulysses during its epic journey. It’s a very small island with a lighthouse and the ruins of the lighthouse Keeper’s house .
We hired a boat to visit the island and the marvelous sea.

Crystal clear water and sculptured seabed - take a mask!

Start at San Marco, Castellabate, 50 min walk along signed private track past villas, some views, to a tiny port and rocky shore. Or start at private entrance to Tenuta Licosa, far west end of Olgiastro Marina, some free parking, the whole promontory is privately owned. From here a flat walk along tarmac partly shaded minor road, if there is no barrier down then locals say just drive in to Punta Licosa and park right there! At Punta tremendous views over to Capri and Sorrentine peninsula - swim in beautiful aquamarine waters, shallow out to the little island with lighthouse, or back along coast path.
If snorkelling is really your thing then just stay at the Olgiastro Marina end, un aqua stupenda, abundant fish and posedonia algae, occasional moray & crabs, swim along around corner of Olgiastro tower towards Punta Licosa, tiny bays, water’s so clear you feel as though you’re ‘flying’ gently over the seabed of wonderful slanting slabs of rock 1 - 15m deep if you go out a bit - its stunning snorkelling as great as Sardinia or Giglio with almost nobody else - enjoy!!

Beautiful forest walk
Jul 2018 • Couples
We parked in Ogliastro and made our way to the gates at the private road leading to Punta Licosa. From other reviews and research I’d read, there was supposed to be a path. However the man who checked our ID at the little gatehouse was quite clear that there was only a road to walk on. A little perturbed, we decided to carry on anyway. The road was fortunately quiet and we were able to divert off at several points to go through the trees and see the sea. Overall a lovely peaceful walk. It took us about 2 hours at a slow strolling rate with stopping for photos etc.
Punta Licosa itself is really just a small harbour with a couple of private houses nearby. You can see walk out onto the rock harbour wall to see the lighthouse. We made our way to a small beach nearby and enjoyed a swim.
Nice day out, extraordinarily tranquil compared to the bustling towns nearby.

An extraordinary nice walk
Oct 2015 • Couples
It is very yrare to be able to walk such long distances on so quite and comfortable roads. Start in St Marco, walk via Punta Licosa and continue to Ogliastro for lunch and back - that will be about 15 km but there are hardly any differences in altitude, so it is not too heavy. You can choose to walk on a paved road or partly in the forrest along the water.

Locals beach

We loved that it was uncommercialised and frequented by locals. Didn't like the beach salespeople trying to sell you their wares!

Beautiful walk
The walk from san marco to the lighthouse is not that nice because you are often blockedfrom seeing the ocean due to scrubs, trees and some houses. The path from the lighthouse to Oligastro is beautiful as you have unobstructed views of the sea.

A hidden treasure in South Italy

A lovely and easy walk from San Marco or from Ogliastro for 4 Km. Bring your camera for breathtaking pics of the sea, the pine trees and the rocks.
