2 main things to see. 1) the apartment where you get to see paintings, sculptures and palace rooms. 2) the sculpted outdoor area to walk, jog or bike. If I went again I might rent a bike from inside. That way the 2 miles from one end to the other (along the water way) that is gently sloped would have... More

The vast size of this place is astounding. I was most impressed by the lavish use of marble in the building. We were told that the palace contains over 1200 rooms, many rich in gilded frescoes. Unfortunately, the gardens were not at their best at the time of our visit.

Another stunning Italian masterpiece! You will see the Park of the Royal Palace of Caserta, the Grand Cascade and the unbelievably ornate interior.

We were astounded at the size and past grandeur of the palace at Caserta, one of the largest palaces in Italy - yet the need for renovation and apparent disregard for the historical significance by some locals (graffiti and rubbish) was disappointing. The gardens were lovely. Difficult to find parking on the street but look for the large parking garage... More

... and reminiscent of a number of similar houses throughout Europe (just not on this scale). The palace is currently undergoing much-needed external renovation, but that which has already been completed adds to the magnificence. The internal rooms are spectacular; l was particulary impressed with the Nativity Room (albeit did not appreciate what l was actually looking at to begin... More

Very impressive exterior (largest palace in Europe?) interior wise much of a muchness to me but the formal gardens grew on me with every minute, a lovely fountain at the end and the informal English gardens an absolute pleasure and a contrast. Recommend that you take the shuttle bus which may seem a little expensive but is worth it.

After visiting this magnificent palace and grounds, it is a mystery to us why it is not better covered in guides books or hyped as a great side trip from both Rome and Naples. A easy and short 30 minute train ride from Napoli Centrale delivers you directly to the palace's front "yard". Both the palace and the grounds are... More

The large gardens are worth the visit even on a cloudy day. There are hidden treasures to be discovered off the beaten trail. The English gardens at the very end are lovely romantic and impressive all at once. You can ride a bike on the premises but not inside the English garden (it would actually be a bit of an... More
