After clear and efficient email communication with Susanna, I did 3 days diving with this dive centre. Everything from sorting out gear hire, to the operation on the boat was excellent.

I was the only native English speaker on the boat each day - this was absolutely not a problem. All briefings and important information was translated by Susanna or one of the excellent dive guides - Davide and Gianluca. And I was made to feel very welcome by the whole team and by the other divers.

In the Mediterranean I've dived in the south of France and Malta - and the diving on Elba was at least as good - interesting underwater rock-scapes, plenty of interesting creatures, fan corals between 30-40m, and excellent visibility. Do try to make sure you dive a day on Pianosa at the Marine Reserve - I was lucky enough to do two amazing dives there - gliding for 10 minutes with a school of barracuda which I've never experienced anywhere in the world. And huge groupers (over a metre) - some so docile you can get within touching distance.

The only thing to be aware of is that the water was a little colder than I expected, especially deeper. A thicker wetsuit, hood and boots is recommended - all of which you can of course hire.

The price of the diving was also very reasonable - so all in all this is location and dive centre is an excellent choice for European diving.

We found this diving center while driving pass by the small town near la spiaggia di Marina di campo. The staff was very friendly and since we didn't bring any equips to the island, he helped us assort all the equipments we need. The shop and the boat are very clean. We signed up for two dives in the morning for EUR 72 per person and EUR 30 for all the equipments except diving computer which is quite acceptable. We had a girl as our dive master who speaks some English. But if you don't speak Italian you might have a hard time communicate with the staffs on board.
In general, the diving trip was not bad, but we never experienced cold water before as we usually dive in the tropical island. The temperature dropped from 26C to 16C within 30M, the visibility was around 20m with lot of yellowish stuff covering the rocks. (They said it's like a seaweed but usually stay in this area very short period) I didn't really enjoy the first dive due to the coldness and the view so I gave up the second one and stayed on the boat. If you are used to tropical diving experience, get ready to face the temperature difference and don't expect something like Sipadan or Maldives, small fish, octopus or small group of barracuda will probably be all.

I do not speak Italian, however Matteo, Francesca and Maurizio at Marina Di Campo Diving were very welcoming and Matteo spoke very good English. I only had a dive computer, mask and regulators with me, however the dive centre has all the equipment you may need for hire.

I was diving on my own and I booked 3 days diving from their hard boat, Elena II, which is a clean, well laid out boat. The boat left at 8:30am and returned by 1:00pm, with 2 dives each morning. I was buddied with another diver in the group for each dive and the group was guided by either Matteo, Francesca or Maurizio.

Diving conditions were excellent (most of my diving is in the UK), although the water temperature below 20m was colder than expected, but not uncomfortable in a wetsuit. I was also lucky enough to dive at Pianosa (a marine reserve), which I recommend.

Although I was the only British diver on the boat and the majority of other divers only spoke Italian, everybody was very friendly and I look forward to diving with Matteo and the team again.

Mateo is a great teacher, very patient, calm and easy-going. He was very accommodating to our schedule. He instructed us (a group of three frenchies) to the Padi scuba diver Certification for a decent price. My girlfriend Anne cecile was welcome on the boat for some snorkeling. We had coffee and some sweets between our dives. Very professional.
