Soliman 50x50x50 art exhibition save your money!!
Jul 2017 • Couples
We paid €7 each to see very little just basically a maze with a few items to look at.
Kids would enjoy it for free.
We were on the understanding it was an exhibition of artists.
All there was to see was a few wood animals..
I came away so disappointed as we made a special trip to see it.
This should be free entrry & how can you charge a fee to experience very little.

Unexpected gems
Jun 2017 • Couples
There are some really unexpected gems in this castle/museum. On the ground floor are some amazing "cribs" which is a loose translation of these models which represent bible stories. The workmanship is stunning, As a bonus is a 20th century equivalent in terracotta which is quirky and humorous. The gardens are a bonus

Interesting church museum

Housed in the former Bishop's Palace, you begin with a large collection of miniatures showing biblical scenes with many Nativity scenes. The medieval works of art were great. This was followed by several rooms of just average paintings. The Apartments were also very good although no English captions were available. In fact, there was no English guidebook available.

Soliman'S Dream is fabulous
Dec 2015 • Family
This review does refer to the light spectacle Soliman'S Dream which is taking place during Christmas Holiday season only. It is a laser show where different spectacular images are projected onto the inner facade, accompanied by the music. It is placed around elephant Soliman that visited Brixen in early 16-th century- on his way to Vienna. It is a must see if you happen to be in town. Lasts util January 6th.. Supposedly will take place around Christmas time in 2016 and 2017.It is clever to buy tickets in advance since there are long queues in front of the ticket booth.

"Crib collection" is a bad translation: but visit anyway!
Jun 2015 • Couples
My husband and I were intrigued by the concept of a large "crib collection", and decided to spend a few hours checking it out. It turns out, that the Italian, German and French word for "crib" also means "Nativity scene". (It's not synonymous in English, unfortunately.)

So this diocesan palace has a huge collection of biblical nativity scenes and dioramas. And they are fantastic. Photography is not allowed, unfortunately. But picture the gory scenes from the Bible with posed miniature dolls. Also picture some dolls made of wax which date from the 1700s, which are slowly melting. Awesome.

As well, there are wonderful paintings and religious artwork from the area, some almost a millennium old. It's a wonderful stop in the quaint town of Brixen.
