Overview
More
History of healing - the Peer collection ,,Small, but sophisticated" was the idea behind this specialized pharmaceutical museum, opened in 2002 at Bressanone in South Tyrol, Italy. The particular attraction of the museum lies in its unique combination of pharmacy, architecture and art. The modern showcases and contemporary art projects harmonize with the panelling in wood from the Renaissance area and the murals dated 1620. A rich collection of plants, animals and minerals coming from the whole world and used during the last four centuries as various remedies constitute the centre of the Peer collection. All the texts, explanations and descriptions avoid the use of technical terms and are suitable also for persons who have no background in the subject. Thanks to the clever didactic system, the museum provides general informations for hurried visitors as well as detailed knowledge for experts.

The museum is a part of a 400 year old apothecary and contains only those items that have accumulated on the site over those 400 years. They are beautifully displayed and the lady introducing it clearly loves her job. If you are near Brixen do...More

This is an interesting museum which is well laid out with attractive exhibits but without English translations there is only a limited amount which a non Italian/German speaker can benefit from it,

As noted by a previous reviewer, there is little in the way of English signage, however this should not deter English speakers from visiting this thoughtfully presented collection which has been donated and collated by the family of pharmacists who have been in business in...More

I know, I know, I shouldn't expect English when I travel to South Tyrol. This little museum has two rooms of non-scary medical devices, and fun little drawers of "natural" medicines (from plants and herbs, to beaver scent glands and rhinoceros horns). Everything is well...More
