Taking the cable car from St Andrä takes you to 2050m on the Plose and right at the entrance of the Woody Walk. The walk is quite easy, has fun and interesting things to do every coue of minutes, as well as great views on different groups of peaky mountains. The road is quite goodand shouldnt be too much trouble even with a stroller with larger wheels (all-terrain). This makes the walk ideal for families. We did around 2km of the walk with a 1 year old on the back and an almost 3-year old walking (and playing) himself, on a hot day. I'm sure children a little bit older won't have too much trouble completing the walk.

Plose is a great skiing - trekking area well located next to Brixen. Comfortably connected to the town and with amazing choice of quality hotels. Highly recommended, possibly more discreet than other locations in the area, but perfect for both families and couples looking for a quiet holiday

We come for the woodywalk with our little son because it’s possible to hike it with a buggy and didn’t get disappointed. Was a wonderful hike in the Dolomites with sunny weather and our little one had a lot fun along the path.

This area is gorgeous. The lift ride up had beautiful views as did the hiking trails. We hiked there two days. The second day we took the lift up, hiked down to a second lift and then hiked down to the fist lift. Some of the trail was the rough the woods and some out in the open with the Dolomites in view. Stunning and breath taking. We had a nice meal at the bottom of the second lift - German food. This is a great hiking area.

Unfortunately Plose is not on the same level with other ski resorts in the area.
1. The pistes are slower and less comfortable to reach - you need to swap halfway up the mountain from car or ski bus to gondola.
2. Limited number of choices of pistes.
3. Poor snow preparation. At least when we visited at the end of March we never saw a single piste machine working.
4. So compared to what you get you pay a lot for skiing on Plose.
In my opinion there are 3 advantages with Brixen/Bressanone and Plose:
1. Easy to reach, also by train.
2. Less crowded than more popular places.
3. A splendid in- and outdoor heated swimming pool and wellness centre is free for use for guests staying at Brixen hotels.

If you are in the Brixin/Rodeneck area, this is a DO NOT MISS location! Enjoy the ride up the mountain with the gondola and enjoy the beautiful views of the Dolomites from the Woody Trail path. The path is easy for all ages, although a bit tough for strollers in some areas that are steeper with more stones in the uneven pathway (but only for a short distance). Woody Trail offers several activity stations along the way that are enjoyable for both children and adults. The restaurant at the top of the mountain offered a great selection of foods and a stunningly view, but was quite pricey.

Besides being a ski resort, the view of the mountain is spectacular. I visited the Plose every season, and it looked different and feel different every time. I will never get tired of the majestic view.

We took the gondola (6 person) to the top of Plose Mountain to view the Dolomites. It is a ski area in winter but was plenty busy the end of June with anyone out for the sunshine. Once at the top there is a Woody Walk you can take to see the surrounding vistas. It is a fairly flat walk. Just be warned you share the mountaintop with the cows who graze there in the summer. They leave their treats anywhere they want. So watch where you walk. The view of the Dolomites is wonderful and a sharp contrast to the treed mountain you are atop.

Thank you so much for visiting and sharing your opinion with us.
You are right, there might be cows around as the local farmers take their cattle to the mountain meadows during summertime. The area of pasture is very wide, and you might also see sheep and goats the herdsmen look after.

My wife and I took the cable car up to Plose, then took a walk on one of the trails.
Fantastic views on a lovely June day. T-shirt and shorts. Easy walks as well as some with higher level of difficulty available.
Spent a lovely couple of hours up there.
Highly recommended.

The cable-car journey alone is worth the trip for the spectacular views of the Dolomites. There are many walks from Plose - of varying lengths. You can begin a long-distance hike through the mountains staying in mountain huts. There's a nice cafe/restaurant and a children's play area. Best on a sunny day.

Ho letto solo ora.
