We had already walked the Vello Toline cycle and pedestrian walk a few years ago and in summer. I had kept the memory of a pleasant, simple walk in a spectacular setting cantilevered over the lake. Today to end the year on a high note we decided to go back, thanks to the beautiful sunny days of this winter. Given the season and the weekday, the Walk was done almost alone. Very few pedestrians, the most numerous cyclists who, however, respected the signs on the ground on the new road surface that separate the roadway. The lake with its endless shades of blue, the silence, the gaze captured by ducklings and various birds to draw routes on the glittering waters, a warm sun and a clear sky have made this route suggestive and pleasant. Cycling on the Ciclo pedonabile Vello Toline was one of the highlights of our stay at Lake Iseo. The shared path is for cyclists and pedestrians only, it stretches between Vello and Toline along the Western side of lake's edge, following the old highway which passes through several tunnels. The views are stunning and there are places to stop for photos and a break or even to take a dip in the water.
The path is 4.17 kilometres long, completely flat, not challenging at all. We cycled from our 'home base' in Sale-Marasino but without a bike the best way to reach the path is by car, although public transport is an option, I did consider catching the bus to Vello (although service is quite irregular), walk the path, then continue on to Pisogne (2.3 kms) and train back to Sale-Marasino. I am very pleased that we were able to squeeze in discovering this stretch of the lake on bikes.

I do not recommend children and seniors need ready reflexes x move when bikes arrive. The cycle path is traveled by cyclists who go in groups at 20/30 per hour. Twice they hit my purse because they run and take fast turns, when they see me they can no longer correct the trajectory and bump me. On a beautiful sunny Saturday in October we stopped with the intention of taking this beautiful walk that we already knew. The amazement at finding it closed with an iron gate that prohibited access. Too bad there was no indication online of the closure. We really hope they reopen it soon even if, chatting with local people, it seemed to us that they were not optimistic about the matter.
