Very nice hike with splendid views. For families with little children a nice walk, when it is to far you can return by navette to the parking

The staff of the rental bikes on the Lakes of Cancano was very kind and gentle to ensure that our bikes and helmets fit perfect and gave us very good advises about the bike path and local sightseeing. Excellent and clean bikes, very professional service. Highly recommend!

One of the good local bike rides in the Bormio area - not one of the Classic rides but none the less still a challenging ride with a lot of vertical and some nice switchbacks. Stop at the Tower and look at the road winding its way to the top - two tunnels on the way up. Great views while riding up looking down into the valley below. Plenty of riders coming up here also .

After cycling the climb Cancano we cycled past the lake towards the snack bars and the cooling breeze was very welcome! Lovely peaceful spot.

Lake Cancano was another amazing location in the Bormio area for a cycling enthusiast. The gorgeous switchback made the ride very special and the view from the top was stunning.

Cancano is billed as one of the easier cycle routes! Fortunately we left this until after the Gavia and Stelvio.
It may only be 13k but it is still relentless and there is no shade. So avoid this in the middle of the day in the summer heat unless you have a high tolerance and have lots of water!
The good news is there is a picnic are half way with a water fountain so if you run dry you can replenish there.
The final part is a set of 16 swotchbacks climbing towards the imposing tower denoting the entry to the lake.
It is absolutely stunning. And not so busy being a dead end off the main road.

This cycling climb is a short distance outside Bormio and has a pleasant constant 7% gradient. About 650m of climbing over 9km.
A very pretty place to visit and ideal for recovery days or for those who aren’t strong enough to climb the Stelvio or Gavia.
At the top the view is beautiful and make sure you go round the corner to see the lakes and get a coffee.

Approximately half the length of the Stelvio and a good old climb in itself. Do-able for most and a 'must do' if you're a keen rider.

Buona passeggiata 😊
