The boat trip around lake of Bolsena is a wonderful way to spend an hour or two when visiting this area. The owner has two vessels and looks for a minimum of ten passengers before setting sail. In the summer, he is assisted by his young son, who is not only a wonderful translator, but has incredible historical and geographical knowledge. The trip is most refreshing on a hot day, when the cooling winds provide real refreshment. There are several times when anchor is dropped, when the passengers savour the island of Bisentina and photo opportunities are plentiful. They say they don't go without 15 people but we toured with only 11. Other reviews have said they canceled the tour. We enjoyed the tour ... was nice and relaxing as we motored to and around the Island of Bisentina. We anchored and swam for about 20 minutes before heading back to port. The captain didn't know English and we are new to Italian so we unfortunately didn't hear the history of the lake that he spoke about when we arrived at the island. It seems they no longer allow you to walk on the island which is private property.
