We had a fantastic experience. They are 2045 meters high you arrive by chairlift and gondola. Then you can visit surroundings that leave you breathless however suggestive the view. The sanctuary is simply lovely. There is also refuge with restaurant bar and clean bathrooms.

Beautiful setting in winter, real 'chocolate box' picture worth a visit for the view and the setting.

On my map, this is Ospizio di Santa Croce. Take the excellent public buses to the center of Pedraces. Walk up the hill to the chairlift, and buy a ticket to the very top (it requires 2 rides). There you will find the chiesa and ospizio of Sta. Croce, built in the 15th century, and beautiful views of the valley. Then walk south to trail #15. The stations of the cross follow you for about a mile along the trail. Continue down all the way to San Cassiano. This is an easy and lovely walk with valley views. Walk through town to the main highway, where bus stops will take you back to the other valley towns.

The place is really nice, but too crowded. Instead of being a pleasant place it is invaded by hundreds of people. Those from the shelter next door do gold deals with the most expensive prices I found in Val badia: a kaisersmarren + water = 17 euros and a few cents. A water with elder 5.40 euros.
They have also placed tables everywhere, even behind the church ... now even this place, in itself beautiful, has been transformed into a big business. Recommendation to go out of season.

Beautiful scenery and amazing skiing. Great new bubble lift to the highest point. Two good restaurants at the mid station.

We were there May 7th. We took the Roda di Armentara route to get there. We drove past the Despar grocery store in Badia. We parked our car at Valgiarei and did the hike to get up to the sanctuary in about 5 hrs. It was an easy hike. Just long. The views were gorgeous, we kept stopping. The church itself was closed but the view from up there was worth it. The trail map we got from the tourist information center was not very detailed but the route was clearly marked. There were probably 6 other people on the trail going in various directions. We were the only ones up there by the time we actually got to the church.

this beautiful church is well worth seeing you can either ski to it on nice easy runs, walk up to it it or take the chair lifts. We skied from Arabba took 2-3 hours.with a coffee break.

This lovely little whitewashed church was built in the second half of the 15th century and added onto in the 17th and 18th centuries. The church itself has a small entry foyer with a large carving of Christ on the Cross. The nave is small with an ornate, unpretentious altar. There is minimal adornment on the ceiling.

The church is about a 100/150 metre steep uphill walk from the top of the second chairlift with the Rifugio Santa Croce being located next to it. Outside of the back of the church is a large carving of Christ on the Cross with the two thieves on crosses either side. This is the start of a beautiful round trip walk to Badia passing the Stations of the Cross along the way.

We parked at Badia and caught the two chairlifts up to just below the church. The chairlifts cost €11.50 in total.

Very serene place where one can contemplate life or just enjoy the silence. Out of character are the 'candles' in the church that are electrically switched on when a donation is made. Luckily real candles burn in the hallway.
