This is a lovely piazza, totally clad in local travertine. I live 30 meters from this place, and walk through it every day. It is really beautiful, but locals claim it is the most beautiful piazza in Italy!!! It is NOT. Tuscany has at least 3-4 which are far nicer, then there is the rest of Italy to consider. But do visit, too bad it is so cluttered with restaurant umbrellas and tables, but??? So, sit and have a drink! Try the famous olives which are really quite wonderful! Ascoli is surely worth a couple days' visit. But it's not very large, you can hit all the high spots in more in a day or two. (now bracing for the attacks!)

This historic square is one of the most beautiful in Italy but is so often missed simply because it is not in one the big tourist cities - keep it a secret!

Center of town. Hot during daylight and warm in the evening. Remarkable floor but the best is the groups of families and young people making their way.

Amazing city made only of marble (marmo). We visited the antico battistero after much adieu. It was cold the day we visited.

I love this piazza. I first visited it about 20 years ago and am so thankful it hasn't changed much. This really feels like Italy to me and, thankfully, hasn't really been discovered by tourists. I especially enjoy coming here in the early evening, sitting on the steps of the city hall and watching people of all ages enjoy the evening. I've been to other out of the way Italian cities with few tourists but all of those have been smaller towns where the piazza wasn't as large, or as grand, and the number of locals was too small to get a good sense of place.

Buonasera lorben17
