Tempio Malchittu is one of the 7 sites that make up the Arzachena Site. located approximately 15 km from Porto Cervo on the Costa Smeralda, well worth the short drive. Three of the sites are here on either side of the main road. This site requires a walk thru a very well marked and laid out track thru pasture land and forest about 1.5 km. The last bit is a little steep and rocky so sturdy footwear is recommended. There is a small building in the shape of an apse, the remains of a small nuraghe and some great climbing rocks for those strong enough and agile enough to attempt. Once back at the ticket office, a sort walk along a sidewalk brings you to the Tomba di Giganti Moru. If you have time, it’s worth the 15-20 minutes this take. If you are going on to Nuraghe Prisgione and the Tomba di Giganti at Coddu Vecchju, and I strongly suggest you do so, you can easily skip this tomb. Across the road, thru an underpass, you will find Nuraghe Albuccio. Due to its proximity to the other two sites, it’s worth the short walk and a 30-40 minute visit.

From the car park at the ticket office, the steep path to the temple climbs upwards through stunning countryside for about 1.5 km. Appropriate footwear is a must. The path is well signposted, but be aware that the very last part of the ascent involves some scrambling to reach the actual temple site. The ticket office provides an A4 printed sheet in English to explain the archeology. Worth visiting for the walk, the view and the history. Combined admission ticket with other Nuraghe sites available.

Nuraghe maiore restaurant is a model of excellence, terrific local food, lovely service and a gorgeous place. Couldn’t say enough about it. The platter of cheese and meats with a fennel digestif to complete is as good as you get. Well done!

Amazing place, worth the climb, for nature lovers. The silence is stunning, the view of the typical granite rocks is pure magic

You have to be in kinda good health, be able to walk and climb a bit and the best part of the day to exlore this archaeological site is in the morning, but it really is something else! This bronze age temple is in such an amazing spot, it is not hard to imagine why they picked this spot and why it would have felt mysterious and holy even. They had to really put in some effort to climb up there and putting the rocks in place to build this temple. Climbing up there is like reaching over centuries of history and shaking the hand of bronze age priests... impressive!

The tempietto is very interesting and well preserved, but what was really worth the visit was the amazing 45 minutes walk up the hillside: beautiful scenery, peaceful setting and not too difficult (it's about 2 km long, only the last 500 metres are steep and our 6 years old managed it very well). Part of the path is shaded and there are also nice stone benches for a pit stop :)
We were there in August but would like to go back in spring as the flowering period must be stunning.
