About
We’ve always been here, on the Chianti slopes of Arezzo, in the land of Tuscany, at Villa La Ripa, a Renaissance villa not far from Florence and Sienna. Olive groves and vineyards all around us with their precious oil and wine: Sangiovese, Tiratari, Psyco, Spaziolibero.Rows and rows of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz are well cared for with love and passion with respect for nature and environmental sustainability. The countryside is unique as it has remained unaltered for ages and deserves to be discovered, enjoyed and… tasted. It is recommended to all the lovers of wine tourism for unforgettable visits at the winery.

Wonderful experience
Sep 2021 • Couples
Claudia welcomed us to the villa, we were also greeted by our guide Francesca. The tour was very informative with lots of historical facts. The wine tasting was slow and extremely lovely. The wines were quality tasting. A very enjoyable experience. Our favorite was brunello di montalacio and pyscho. I would highly recommend this tour and tasting. Beautiful villa and lovely people.

At home in a Tuscan Vineyard
Sep 2020
The website of Villa La Ripa is very polished. It mirrors the estate located in the hills above Arezzo, and its current owners Saverio and Adriana Luzzi, who bought the property in 1992.

Carole and I have known Saverio since1977 when he came to London as an
undergraduate student in medicine at the University of Florence to attend language
classes. Carole was one of his teachers. A friendship ensued, involving us visiting his
parents in Arezzo the following year, where to my astonishment and delight Saverio
showed me how he made wine in the small family cantina. It was then that I realised that the man was passionate about where he came from - its past and traditions. He was then, and still is now, rooted in the place - in its customs, countryside, and cuisine.

Saverio is a neurologist. His knowledge of science and the land, govern his approach to wine making and lies at the core of the Villa la Ripa business, now run by the team of Silvia Caneschi, Franziska Memmert, and Claudia Luzzi. The wines he makes are vibrant, and true. They look, smell, and taste both distinctive and distinguished. It is tautological to say that that the wines of Villa La Ripa reflect the land and its micro-climate.  What is as important is the care and attention to detail that characterises every step of wine making on the estate: a process that changes from vintage to vintage in response to the condition of the grapes in each of the vineyards, which in turn affects how each wine is blended and aged.

For visitors, the estate provides a powerful sense of a family at work, steeped in a
particular way of doing things that draws upon both science and custom.

super cosy winery
Aug 2020
This ancient winery is full of delicious details. We were received by the owner of this amazing property, who guided us for the last 500 years of history of the house, winery, vineyards and curiosities. After that we tasted some of the wines they produce there, helped by the sweet Francisca. It worth the visit - and it has in considerations all the safety rules regarding Covid-19 :)

Best wine tasting experience
Aug 2020 • Couples
Amazing hospitality and very warm welcome. The owner Dr. Luzzi accepted us even though we did not have a reservation and just rang the bell. He was very passionate about the wines and history. We have learned a lot of new things both about history and wines. It was literally the best wine tasting for us in the region. The villa is from Renaissance and astonishing. Wines are amazing. Specially we really liked the psycho. Also the cheese and olive oil are the best.
We had a really nice conversation for almost 2 hours. We will definitely come again and buy more wines and oils next time.

Tuscan Red Psycho is Stellar
May 2019 • Couples
This gem is a fabulous stop for the wine, the olive oil, and the genuineness of the team here. I contacted them via email on a Monday before we were scheduled to drive home from Arezzo to Pozzuoli, and they were able to accommodate us. The Psycho Tuscan red and the SpazioLibero rosata were so good I had to have a case of each. The psycho olive oil is full bodied and another must have. I will definitely bring back friends and family to this vineyard.

Really interesting place and wine
Feb 2020
The location is astonishing! The tower was build more than 1,000 years ago, and the rest of the villa almost 500 years ago, and remains basically as built. As the story we were told, because during all this time only 5 families lived there, and maintained it as a nice piece of history.
We tasted 3 different wines and the oil produced by them. All really nice.
Definitely worth the visit!

Great Tour, Must See
The owner, Dr Luzzi, was so kind to give me a tour of his beautiful villa. He highlighted the art, history and architecture of the villa which dates back to the year 1000. The wine was spectacular and I was easily able to purchase a case for very reasonable price and ship to the USA. Highly recommended!

Definitely worth going out of your way
Oct 2019 • Couples
This was my second visit to Villa La Ripa. Both visits have been great experiences, enjoying the wonderful Tuscan scenery, hearing the amazing history of the villa, and tasting Saverio’s delicious wines and olive oil. A beautiful place, a gracious host, and outstanding Tuscan wines. What more can you ask for?

What a treat it was to visit here! The history alone was fascinating and the great wine just adds to the experience. It’s wonderful that the family shares the historic treasures of the house itself. You need to visit this place !

Beautiful story and grounds.

This vineyard and castle are breathtaking. The owner shared the history of the property and how they came to own it. Fascinating stories. The wines are fabulous. My wife and I ordered 2 cases to be shipped home. We can't wait to get them.
