I booked Very Tuscany for 6 days in Tuscany for our group of 12 in September/October of 2024. We chose to stay near Arezzo, which is where Very Tuscany is based. We found Arezzo to be an excellent location as it is near three great Tuscan wine production areas (Chianti, Montepulciano, Montalcino), within an hour of Florence and Siena, and surrounded by mountain-top towns like Anghiari, Cortona and Pienza. Since it isn’t thought of as a major tourist attraction, it is more reasonably priced, and is just as beautiful as any other major Tuscan city. As a result, we had an incredible experience. All of us have traveled extensively throughout Europe, and each of us commented that this was the best set of tours we have ever had. Each day we were picked up from our rented villa and transported in 2 vans to hill-top towns, boutique wineries, cheese and prosciutto farms, and places where Italians live and work. While we were in the vans, our drivers prepared us for what we were going to see, the history of the area, the ways that make Italy and Tuscany special. It was so much better than the typical “you drive to the location, meet up with a guide, take a tour, drive back to your accommodations.” We became friends with our guides, Sara and Mattia, and had thoughtful, fun conversations each day as we toured Tuscany. Every day was unique and special and kept us wanting more. I can assure you that Very Tuscany will exceed all your expectations.

Sara took our group of 15 on an amazing food and wine tour. She was so welcoming, knowledgable, and warm. We really appreciated her ability to wrangle a large group of friends around the region. We ate so well, drank delicious wines, learned a ton, and just had a lot of fun. Additionally, planning with Very Tuscany was wonderful. It was easy to plan a great tour that worked for us, and was priced very fairly. Thank you so much!

On a lovely October morning, my 8 traveling companions and I were picked up at our rented villa in Tuscany and whisked away for an all-day wine and culture tour of the Tuscany region. Our driver, Sara, was absolutely amazing, regaling us with so much information along the way about the history of Tuscany and many enchanting facts regarding the sprawling hilltowns we passed on our tour. I was completely enthralled by the scenery we passed and ready to read volumes about Etruscans when I got back home to the United States. Our first stop was to the town of San Gimignano, and after snapping a picture near the main gate where there was a fantastic view, we stepped back in time in this small town, enjoying some food and shopping while there. Next was a visit to one of two wineries – one named Cesani – and our time there was truly a slice of Heaven – tasting several different wines, learning the history of each, and being served wonderful, delicious, Italian food in between tastings. The view from Cesani Winery was breathtaking and truly magical. Following our lunch with wine, we visited Castello di Brolio, learned about the history there and then visited Brolio’s winery (the oldest in Italy) for another tasting. Sara, at our request, kindly ended our tour at the edge of the town of Arezzo, which we had hoped to visit before we left the next day for Florence, but not without giving us tips on where to eat in Arezzo. We all came away from the day totally enchanted by this beautiful tour and very grateful for the insight Sara gave us into her beloved countryside. I don't think we will ever be able to thank her enough for this experience. I am now home in New York and feel as if that entire day was a dream! This tour is well worth the money and time – DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY! Personally, I intend to do it all over again next time I’m in Italy!

From the moment we made contact, we knew Sara was going to become our ‘travel mate’ more than a tour guide!
We spent the most wonderful together with Sara showing us the beauty of Montepulciano where we visited the Wine Cathedral for a tour and very special wine tasting - and strolled the ancient cobbled streets on a perfect sunny day.
Sara then drove us through pretty countryside and we stopped for lunch at a farm which produces its own produce! Wines, cheeses, vegetables…
It was delicious.
All along the way, we enjoyed charming conversations with Sara who told us about the local areas.
In the afternoon we visited Pienza-the most gorgeous town constructed in true Renaissance style….
Again, we strolled the streets taking in the charm and magnificent views offered.
We arrived back in Arezzo feeling very content and incredibly grateful to Sara for sharing her knowledge and love for the area!
This tour has been an absolute highlight of our Italian adventure!

My husband and I spent a splendid day with Sara, who took us first to Montepulciano and then to Pienza. The scenery was exquisite, and Sara and the vintners were knowledgeable and delightful. We had just the right amount of time to explore the two charming towns, and just the right amount of time to taste four or five wines at each stop. Our light lunch at stop #2: delicious! This was the second trip we booked through Very Tuscany, and it certainly won't be the last!

All I can say is WOW! One of the top highlights of our trip to Italy. Sara was an absolutely amazing tour guide and host for the day as we traveled to San Gimignano (a must see) and two of the most amazing wineries in Tuscany. There are certainly other tour companies you can hire but I am telling you, go with Sara and Very Tuscany, you won't regret it! We cannot thank you enough Sara for a truly memorable, amazing day!

After careful consideration for our honeymoon in Tuscany we opted for a tour with Sara. She worked in perfectly with our requests, was happy to accommodate ideas we had and ultimately it was the perfect blend of a guided tour with input from us. We found other options we considered were very restrictive and worked to tight, inflexible schedules so Sara was a breath of fresh air. The day was fantastic, she was very knowledgeable, spoke excellent English & was wonderful to be around. I’d highly recommend her to anyone looking at a tour through Tuscany.

Had a great day with Andrea. He was informative and easy going. The wineries were beautiful, the lunch was incredible and the wine was delicious. Next time, I want to do one day of wine tasting and another day cheese tasting. Would definitely recommend.

If your looking for a really cool experience look no farther. When ever I go away I like to try to get a locals perspective/point of view about the food/history/culture. I always loved the travel shows (no reservations, parts unknown etc) where the host experiences the culture from a local or inside perspective rather then just pointing out the main touristy highlight type stuff. Very Tuscany can definitely provide you with that type of experience.

Our guide was Andrea who was extremely proud of his heritage, history and culture. On our way to our first stop he gave us a history lesson about Italy which was really interesting (were I come from we never really learned about Italy, outside of the Romans, until the Renaissance). Andrea is super laid back, easy to talk to and from our interactions, you could tell he loves what he does.

Our fist stop was at Pienza. We got an espresso and walked around the town. Andrea gave talked about the significance of Pienza and explained the architecture of the town and the churches which was really cool to see.

Our second stop was to a farm called Podere Il Casale which is a working farm that grows and makes everything on the Farm. We got a tour, hung out with some animals and had an amazing lunch (salads, cheeses, spelt pasta and wine).

Our last stop was at a winery. I forget the name, but we toured the winery and cellar and then sampled all the different types which were all great. The country side In Val D'Orcia is really just like the pictures. It was the perfect ending to the day drinking great wines, catching a little buzz and looking at the beautiful scenery.

One thing Andrea did was really cool (I'm pretty positive he did this on purpose). So we stopped at the town Montepilchino before we went to the winery. He told us to walk through the town and meet us on the other side. As we were walking, there was a parade of little school kids all dressed up as different types of food walking down the main road. The road was packed with the parents taking pictures and waving to there kids and older people hanging out their windows waving and cheering. It was such a cool scene. Turns out it was Fat Tuesday (i'm not sure what its called in Italy) and the kids were having the parade for Lent.

If you want to get away from the tourists and experience Tuscany, this is the way to do it.

My wife , sister in law and myself could not have been happier with this combination wine / historical tour of the Tuscanny region. Our tour guide Sara picked us up at our hotel in Arezzo and immediately made us feel like we found a long lost friend that just happened to know everything about this region of Italy. We selected the Montepulciano and its "Nobile" tour that brought us to two wonderful wineries ( Poliziano and Talosa ) with excellent energetic wine experts showing off their family run productions and sharing generous amounts of their wonderful wines. The Montepulciano area is the rolling vineyard hills that you can imagine if you saw Under the Tuscan sun- breathtaking. The light lunch that was included was an amazing spread of pecorino cheeses, olives, bread, sun dried tomato, and of course very tasty prosciutto, it was the perfect match with the wines we were enjoying. Sara and Andrea were wonderful guides that focus very hard on making sure we were enjoying our day. We rode in a very comfortable clean car and were amazed with Sara's historical knowledge and passion for her country. I have never written a review before but felt that I needed to let the world know that if you ever get to the Arezzo/Tuscanny region that you should not miss this tour. It truly is worth every euro and I am a pretty frugal guy.
