We are from Ireland and have not been able to visit this top-quality shop, presided over by the ever-helpful and charming Claudio and Adele.
We are writing this review to wish them both well and to hope that they are in good health and that the shop will continue so that we will have the pleasure of visiting again when this crisis has ended.

Returning to Albenga after four years, we were looking forward to our visit to Claudio e Adele for lunch and sandwich materials.
It was so lovely to see them, so welcoming and as generous as ever with samples of their delicious hams, cheese and so on.
The small shop is a feast for the senses and prices are reasonable.
Young Jack lovef the "cotto".
Hope to see it again in 2019.

Claudio and Adele's delicatessen is a lovely little shop in via Palestro, set in the heart of the old medieval town of Albenga. It's off one of the small commercial streets, via Gian Maria Oddo, that comes off the main drag Via Roma (see map below). It is a pearl that's waiting to be discovered by gourmet palates. The shop is tiny and once you enter you are surrounded by counters packed with only the the finest selection of Italian and international salumi (Nduia, prosciutto iberico pat angers) mortadella, on the right and cheeses on the left. They stock other general high quality products such as various types of speciality rices, red, white etc., pastas and free range eggs, local honey and so on.
They offer a truly exceptional range of very carefully selected Italian and local cheeses including Gorgonzola both Dolce (sweet) and natural (a sweet but harder variety than the traditional dolce) as well as from international sources such as from France next door (Roquefort, Rochebaron, Reblochon, point l'evaque, peraldou, perail the to me perigordine) and from abroad in the UK cheeses such as Shropshire blue and blue Stilton (both typical English yellow cheeses 'needled' with Penicillium Roqueforti) as well as most of the typical Italian cheeses including formation Di fossa, Gorgonzola Di Capra, ricotta Sicilians stagionata, burro artigianale, ricotta, primavera and various kinds of mozzarella. They stock Pesto Genovese artigianale, della Azienda Agricola Ramella, dried mushrooms, anchovies and tuna. This shop is a must for foodies and their partners.

Friends just introduced us to this delightful and friendly shop. They have been in business since 1991. I am embarrassed to say in all of our wanderings through this charming town, we had not been there before.

We love magnificent cheeses with great character-and we will be making up for lost time! I think it is safe to say there is nowhere quite like this for miles and miles around. I think even the French would be impressed! Half a dozen spectacular cheeses, coupled with local foccacia, bread and grissini became the core of a wonderful lunch. Whether it is a picnic, a gift for a friend or part of an elegant meal, a visit to this store will bring great rewards.

A few times a year we come to Albenga and we never leave without having visited this delicious shop. Claudio and Adele give excellent advise and explain the background of every cheese, ham and all the other gorgious things they sell. We never return to Holland without crudo di Sauris, really one of the best hams we ever tasted.
