This simply speaking is nothing else but an archeological tour.

Do not expect the exceptional like the necropolis in Naples for example. No labyrinth, no skulls, no skeletons and no creepy surroundings.

Exceptional guide who knows everything. 10 out of 10 for him.

To me it is an interesting tourist attraction, however, rather invest your precious time to learn about the different truffles and wines.

Amazing experience! Tour is given in Italian, which we don't speak, and it didn't take away from the experience for us at all. Seeing the underground ruins up close, first hand, was an amazing experience. The tour guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and we had a great time.

We were very exited to be able to do the Underground Alba Tour. Alas the tour was only in Italian and a written hand out of a few pages was given to the English speaking guest. We were a group of 14 of which 5 spoke English. The guide was very enthusiastic and surely did a very good job in explaining but of course we did not understand a word. The written pages were very scant compared to the 2 hour tour that was given. Such a shame for such a worthy subject. Considering the cost it definitely was not value.

This tour was one of the reasons we booked a stay in Alba. Unfortunately, we were never told that there were no English-speaking tours available and we ended up on an Italian-language tour. We were given English handouts so that we could follow along but they were not in the order of the tour so we were never sure what we were seeing. Had we known the language issue, we would have skipped the Tour especially since the price was fairly high. It's too bad because the ruins are interesting and all of the staff were friendly and enthusiastic. Better communication would have gone a long way to averting our disappointment.

We discovered that a tour wasn't available during our three days in Alba. Be sure to check the days and times and book in advance. So what to do? We were able to tour the Duomo on our own and go down into the underground museum area to see some of the ruins and the displays. There were clear labels in English. No, it wasn't as good as taking the tour, but was still fascinating.

Dig anywhere in Italy and you will find Roman ruins. So this little town in Piedmont has made the most of its underground finds. The tour is an hour and in several languages. The young archaelogist probably was limited by his English skills but more than made up for it with his enthusiasm and knowledge. We walked around the center and under it. Worth the price.

We missed the tour (the fact that it is only in Italian doesn't bother us), but we had the chance to visit the excavations underneath the cathedral, and they were spectacular. Well presented!

The ancient Romans populated Alba because it was located along the trade route to northern Europe, and Alba remains an important city today. The underground tour is run by museum staff and concludes with time inside of the very nice city museum. Book the underground tour in advance, as tickets sell out within the last hour before each tour. Tours are seasonal.
