We booked a private tour of Valley of the Temples with Michele Gallo for our group of 14 family members, ages 17-57. I found his name in the Rick Steves Sicily guide book. He was very helpful from the very beginning. I had purchased tickets online from the COOP Culture but did not receive them in my email. Michele had to speak with the ticket office several times to get that straightened out. The tour was very informative and presented in an interesting and easy to understand way. A number of family members commented that they were glad that we had Michele to guide us through the site. Worth the investment!

We were lucky enough to have Michele Gallo as our guide for two hours today as we toured the Valley of the Temples. When I found his name in the Rick Steve’s Sicily book, I immediately felt confident that he would be a great guide. He has a wealth of knowledge that he knows how to convey in an understandable way, using photos from a book as visual aids when necessary. His pacing was perfect, he knew shady spots to rest, and he was able to get us to the front of the line to get tickets, which was an added bonus! Going with a private tour is worth the nominal extra cost, as we were able to have individual questions answered, without feeling that we were imposing ourselves on other members in a group. Don’t even hesitate…..book Michele, and secure the booking in advance!

Our exploration of the Valley of the Temples was so much better by starting off with a tour led by Michele Gallo. He combined history, culture, philosophy, and architecture in a captivating way. After our two hour tour was over we were more than ready to go off and explore other areas, truly understanding what we were seeing. Guide books
are fine, but this was truly memorable.

The Montalbano Tour did not dissapoint. My husband and I love the Montalbano books. We toured both "Montelusa" (Agrigento) and "Vigàta" (Porto Empedocle) and Michele even introduced us to the real life Enzo where we had lunch.
Michele Gallo has a unique way of weaving in the important social structure in Sicily and the Agrigento region to the tour and books of both Andrea Camilleri and Luigi Pirandello.
Pirandello literay works were important in shaping how Camilleri evolved in his writing career.
In "Montelusa" we saw where both writers went to school, the Comissioners Office, the head offices of the Carabinieri, and learned of an important and very unique story between Saint Calogero and Cameilleri.
In Vigàta, we saw the Pasture, the fish docks where Fazio gets into some trouble, we saw where Salvo Montalbano meets Ingrid for the first time. Honestly it was like having the place where Montalbano lived and worked come alive...and as the books were written on real places, it was easy to do.
For fans of the books, this is a must. The tour was so much more than seeing the actual places Camilleri based his books on, Michele Gallo's brilliance is setting the context for the books in the social fabric of life in this region and was very thought provoking and humbling.
This adventure was transformative in how I see the people of Sicily, it"s complex social structure, Sicily's triumphs and its massive power struggles that exist today. Economically depressed and historically stripped of its resources, Sicily and its people have a long road ahead to share in the wealth that was once theirs and will be again....

We were so lucky to have this tour with such a knowledgeable guide and teacher. The history became alive for us and the vastness of these sights were so impressive. We will never forget this experience. Having history explained in this remarkable site enriched our lives! Having a guide with you is enlightening and it was wonderful to ask questions and have them answered by a great guide with excellent English skills as well. Highly recommend this guide and tour!

We booked a tour of the Agrigento temples with Michele at noon on a 100 degree day! Michele was great! He was so knowledgeable about the area, we learned so much! Even my teens who were a bit reluctant to go on a 2-hour tour in the heat loved it! And the temples are incredible-a must see!

We were two couples who booked an afternoon tour of the Valley of the Temples with Simona as our guide. And we were so glad we did! Simona is a true professional. Her deep knowledge of the area's history was matched by her enthusiasm. Our 2 hour visit to the Temples was truly enriched by taking this tour.

We had an amazing day with our tour guides Alessandra and Mario!! They brought us to 3 wineries that offered a different experience. Alessandra spoke excellent English and Italian. They were both kind, funny and prompt. During our car ride we learned some Italian. So much fun. I highly recommend!
