We had a fabulous experience with Gaetano of Sicily TravelNet! Our ship was docked in Messina for the day and we hoped to see as much of Sicily as we could, including the clock tower in Messina, and Taormina. The advice pre-trip was fantastic and the pricing was about half that of other companies. Gaetano was terrific! He was on time, the first person at the gangway and had a lot of pride in his hometown (though not TOO pushy!) In addition to seeing the clocktower - a must see, Taormina and Castelmola he took us to a local restaurant (Osteria Agostiniana) that was very much "off the beaten path". We spent over two hours eating the largest meal we've ever eaten - all seafood and shellfish and very authentic. He ate with us (at our request) so he was able to help us with the menu, speaking with the servers and moving things along. Best of all, we were able to learn so much about Italy and Sicily. It was like dining with old friend - highly recommended. The dining experience was the highlight of our trip but the entire day was so memorable. There is no doubt we'll call on Sicily TravelNet and Gaetano next time we visit Sicily - and we can't wait to go back!!!

I had the privilege of touring Sicily last October, 2014. The tour was definitely one of the most Awesome experiences of my life. My cousin and I loved the tour, the guides, the other tourists. What a Great group. Our guide, Franco Caputo and his driver Maximo, were Superior in every aspect of the trip. The hotels, the food, the attention to every detail was above and beyond. Franco s knowledge of history and the country was incredible. Thank you Franco for one of the Best times of my Life. I will never forget Agrigento at Sunset, or the magnificent lunch at the prickly pear farm or the lunch at the Lodge in the mountains, were delightful, great food. and Enrice!! AHHHHH.. Thank you , Thank you. We booked through Key Tour who combined with carousel tours and retevacanze tours in Sicily and this is who Franco Caputo works for... Our driver gave us an incredibly safe ride.. I want to do this again with my children, Loved it that much...Donna Anderson, Connecticut, USA

We just returned from a 7 day cruise from Rome to Venice. Our ship docked in Messina and 16 of us had an excellent tour to Castelmola and Taormina. We contacted www.sicilytourguides.net and they met us at the dock. The tour guide was excellent and the sites were unforgetable. We left Messina and went to Castelmora where the views were exceptional - especially of Mount Etna. The roads were very steep and the scenery was breathtaking. We stopped in the town after visiting the old ruins of the castle at the top and had time to sample the local almond wine and explore. Then we travelled to Taormina and saw an amazing church, the theatre and had an excellent pasta lunch. I recommend Sicily Tour Guides when you want to make the most of your stop. The driver and tourguide were excellent and we had a great day.

We were so fortunate to have Lorenzo as our tour guide of Agrigento. We messaged him at 10 pm in the off chance that he may be able to provide a tour at 10am the following morning. He responded immediately and confirmed the booking. He was incredible. His knowledge was impeccable, his presentation perfect and friendly manner was a joy. We discovered that we had found the Cristiano Ronaldo of the tour industry 😁😁. Apparently he appeared on Michael Portillo’s railway documentary about Sicily.
Anyway, Many thanks Lorenzo

We arranged our tour with Michele Gallo (note bring Euros as credit cards are not accepted) and had Rino Sabella for our guide. Rino was amazing both with his knowledge of the site and the relationships with other sites and how these sites fit into context historically. Sicily has such an interesting history and the 3 hours we had with Rino was time very well spent.

Gate 1 Travel - 8 day Sicily Tour - I am back from my trip to Sicily. Had a great time and learned a lot about the Island, culture and history. It really exceeded my expectations. I also wanted to let you know that our tour guide was Martin - he was fantastic. He really is an asset to Gate 1 Travel. Very polite and knowledgeable of Sicily. Also, the local guides were great, they made the tour very interesting. And finally, I need to let you know that the Gate 1 driver was very good as well.
Overall, this has been the best tour I ever experienced. I highly recommend this tour to anyone.
Thanks again for booking my tour and for all your assistance.
Sincerely,

Amazing tour guide! Toured valley of the Gods ruins of Greek temples. Wonderful historian who made the tour come alive with her stories. Traveled by her car to the ruins and then a quick tour of the most important churches in the city! Made a suggestion for dinner and then made our reservation. Very considerate guide! Thank you Elizabeth!

When staring at the brilliant sandstone of 2500 year old Greek ruins set against the bright blue Agrigento sky, many travelers say, "That's pretty," snap and a few pictures and move on.
But if you are interested in a deeper -- and much more entertaining experience -- hire Lorenzo for his two hour private tour of the Valley of the Temples.
Lorenzo is everything you could want in a tour guide -- organized, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and entertaining. He presents these ancient monuments to you in a passionate and engaging manner while providing the context you need to appreciate what you are seeing.
He tells you what you are looking at and why it is important in an efficient two hour walk that will be the highlight of your vacation.

My wife and I did a morning tour with Lorenzo. The experience was easy to set up, prompt, and well laid out.
More importantly, Lorenzo is highly knowledgeable - once he realised I had an interest in historical origins of Sicily he made sure to pepper in examples and stories from history wherever possible.
Overall, the tour was informative and detailed without being overly long or boring in the least. Lorenzo was funny, well organised, and friendly. He takes good iPhone pictures too!
Highly recommended.

We had the loveliest tour of Agrigento and the valley of the temples by Lorenzo capraro. Lorenzo went out of his way to give us a local, sicilian experience along with just some good quality tour-guiding. I cannot recommend him highly enough. He also took special care because I was 7 months pregnant .... just a lovely person and guide.

Hi, we'll be spending a day in Agrigento in September and are wondering what type/length of tours you have and if Franco Caputo is still available?

Hello,
Go to our website to find details of the tours. A tour of the site lasts about two hours. Franco Caputo is not available but all our guides are very very competent and knowledgeable.
We look forward to hearing from you

Does anyone have recommendations for a small group guided tour of the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento? I would like an afternoon tour as I will be doing family research in town in the morning. Vagabonda recommended Michelle Gallo but I have reached out and no return message. Any options which I can actually pickup In Agrigento, would be appreciated.

We are thinking of coming by bus from Palermo to Agrigento. We would arrive lat Friday 22 May. Stay 2 nights (have all Saturday) leave Sunday. Is that practical?
Is there a bus from Agrigento to Syracuse?

Hello,
It is easy to take a bus from Palermo to Agrigento. The bus stop is near the Railway Station in Palermo. Bus Company Cuffaro. The ride takes about 2 hours.
No direct bus connection from Agrigento to Siracusa. The best way is to take a SAIS bus to Catania (2 hours) and then from there a bus to Siracusa ( about one hour).
Happy new year 2015.
