Several ways to discover Mont Mezenc:
- ascent: on the Chaudeyrolles road, first parking lot at the forest house, second parking lot at the Peccata cross...
- tour: longer, same departures, more Col des Bouttieres...
Easy walk, difference in altitude between 200 and 300 meters, alternating shaded and uncovered passages...
Wear correct shoes because there is a rocky path to the top...
In fact, two summits to discover: the one with the cross located in Haute Loire, the second, a few meters higher with the orientation tables in Ardèche...
360° view: depending on the weather, possibility of seeing Mont Blanc, Barre des Écrins, Mont Ventoux, Puy de de Sancy...
Closer are the numerous juices and puys, vestiges of volcanic activity...
A very beautiful walk...

We completed the Col de la Croix Boutières trail leading to Mont Mezenc as a couple in August 2023. Beautiful walk and good sporting time: the end of the ascent is worth it because it is quite difficult but the view is superb from the summit. 2 different viewing spots: Mont Mezenc and/or its needle. On the way back, there is the possibility of dining in an inn (but quickly filled up, no more room for us!) or at the snack bar below. Excellent ham and St Nectaire sandwiches. Very good time and very beautiful setting. To recommend...

Perfect walk and nature trip.
A little bit more than a couple of hours walk to the top.
Even my 5 year old daughter walked back and forth, no problem. Beautiful scenery!

This is the highest point in the area and a very easy climb from the car park. There are two summits and three viewpoints from which the views are extensive. The views to the SE are particularly impressive.

The path to the summit is good and all but those with impaired mobility should manage it.
The views are spectacular.
There is a good car park and for the not so ambitious the views from there are good too. For those interested in flowers the roadside verges nearby are glorious in spring and mis summer.
