Just stunning
Mar 2021
Despite being a long weekend where we were blessed with perfect beach weather, this stunning beach was not too crowded. I just loved the untouched scenery and landscape. The sand is soft, the water so clear, and there’s a sand bar so it stays nice and shallow for the little ones. Rocky outcrops for rock pooling. This beach had every little scrap of nature covered and we stayed all day. Perfection 😊

Picture Perfect …. If Overseas Would Be A Traveller’s Hot Spot
Mar 2020
White sands. Gentle breeze. Sun shining. Relaxing sounds of waves lapping the shoreline. Excited squeals of delight from children. People enjoying their time at the beach. This was Carrickalinga the day we visited. I was trying to recall the last time I was there and came to the conclusion it was way too far back in the memory. This beach is a well-known holiday spot and also retiree haven. And finally I now know why – all of the above!

Travelling in from Normanville, the road leads to a large central car park with only walk access to the beach. The views are picture perfect and from a viewpoint on Gold Coast Road at Haycock Point the white sands stretch down to Normanville. Below the lookout, a very rocky section of beach, with sandy walkways through the outcrops, marks the start of a northern section called Dodd Beach. Again white sands. Follow the Gold Coast to its northern-most point and another viewing point. The Carrickalinga Point Lookout, with ramps and steps to the beach, enables a superb view from that point due south over miles of white sands. The Carrickalinga Esplanade Walking Trail weaves it way south from here. A medium sized car park is at the Point and also has limited disabled parking.

Back heading south and following Gold Coast Rd brings us to a southern section with an entrance to the beach near Lyddon Street. The car park here is a reasonable size with disabled parking and the public toilets are adjacent. Vehicles are not permitted on the beach. Here is the start of the Normanville- Carrickalinga Sand Dunes with a large sign indicating what to look for whilst walking the dunes. Dos are permitted on the beach but at high holiday season and some other designated times must be on a leash. Check the signage available. A wooden ramp is available for accessing the beach.

Beach fishing is permitted in designated areas.

It was really enjoyable discovering what I had missed out on for many years by not visiting Carrickalinga.

Return? I would really love to stay at Carrickalinga and enjoy the time away from modern distractions … and capture some good sunsets!

Nice walk southwards
Feb 2020 • Friends
Nice wide clean beach.
Approx 2.5 kms south and time for a coffee stop at Normanville.
Nice saunter northwards back to Carrickalinga.
What more could be asked for on a perfect late summers day?

Such a beautiful Beach, quite empty and quiet so you don’t have to worry about any disturbance and nice rockpools.

A wonderful beach with great views

Go up the hill to Forktree Brewing for lunch & dinner. It’s well worth it.

A lovely sandy beach with dolphins!
Jan 2019 • Couples
A lovely sandy beach with lovely views of Lady Bay and beyond.
The public toilets are very clean and tidy and there’s ample parking.
We even saw a pod of dolphins swimming up the beach.
If John Snow needs more dragon glass for his fight against the White Walkers, it’s here in a few rocky outcrops.
