Mirik Excursion
It includes Simana Viewpoint, Gopaldhara tea estate,India Nepal border and Mirik lake
Travelling to mirik is 35 kms. from Darjeeling. It takes almost two hours.
Simana Viewpoint is famous for offering a splendid view of Maneybhanjan, Sandakphu trail and the lofty mountainous valley with the backdrop of Mount Kanchenjunga.
From Simana for a long way towards Mirik, the road acts as the divider between India and Nepal. They are all mostly Nepali. They sell flowers, radish and carrots.
Then we stopped at Gopaldhara tea estate. Tea garden in vast area. Enroute we saw many tea garden. Again moved forward to Mirik. After half an hour we reached Mirik town. There are homestays and hotel too. There is a Mirik lake but the water is very muddy. There is a small garden having colourful flowers. Horse riding is also done.
At Nepal border there is a Pashupati Check post. We have to show our identity to enter into Nepal. Only Indians and Nepalese are allowed to enter. There is Pashupati market in Nepal side where cosmetics, woollen clothes and many consumer goods are sold at cheaper rates.

I'm not sure if this sliver of a water body can be called a lake? More like a large pond? Crowded, full of snack shacks and car parks, it seems pointless to take a detour to check out this place on the way in or out of the hills.

The lake located in Mirik have facilities for boating. One can even witness the Mt. Kanchenjunga from here if there is a clear sky. The place have the Horse riding facilities. If people feel hungry they can gorge on the local delicacies available there.

It is beautiful lake surrounded by forest on one side with tall trees and lot of greenery. Nicely done pathway along side the forest and lake make it a good peaceful strolling spot for nature lovers. There is no entry fee to this lake. You can choose to enjoy horse riding for some fee. An arch bridge over the lake gives an excellent view of the surroundings. Although this place is located away from main city - about an hour's drive - but it is worth because the drive through beautiful greens is splendid and incomparable.

The lake is the top attraction of Mirik. There is no entry fee, private horse rides are available,a floating handicraft market is there in the lake. The lake is aurrounde by green forest on one side and Mirik village on the other. A sunny day activity.

I would say if you’re visiting Nepal border and pashupati temple near the border then only go to this place.it is far from the Main Darjeeling chawrasta and doesn’t have a great sight to see.

After long time i visited the place but due to some construction and huge man made pollution the place lost her senic beauty gradually. It was so painful to me. I decided never visit again. A local mela was running there at that time, therefore a huge air pollution covered the whole area.
