We did the sunset tour in Wahiba Sands that involved some dune bashing, time spent on the sand dunes and watching the sun go down while sipping on some traditional Omani coffee. We were pleased with the organisation of the trip as well as our guide, Nayef. The dunes are truly gorgeous and we wished we had planned an overnight stay as the desert is definitely worth a visit.

Yes, seven days and six nights crossing the desert... I can't say enough about it.
It was magical, beautiful, unforgettable and a priceless experience. Abdulla and Mohammed, our guides, have hearts of gold, they are beautiful human beings. They made everything to understand us and to make us feel happy. Always very friendly, happy, willing to help. Beautiful people!

We rode the camels and walked through the desert. Everyday, that is all we did. The stars, the silence, the dunes were incredible. The Bedouins we got to meet in the desert were also beautiful people. They were great hosts! They gave us chai, goat's milk, dates... they were always very welcoming (in hindsight, I would have liked to bring presents with me to give to people when we visited their homes).

My husband and I are very grateful with Hamad and Bediyah Tours for facilitating this experience. We are dreaming to go back...

Thank you all!

Had an amazing Jeep Tour in Wahiba Sand Desert! A Highlight of Middle East trip! Hammad was great communicating info and meeting us. The local guide was knowledgable, friendly, and funny. Learning about Bedouin and seeing their camps was interesting. Going far into desert and stopping high up on dune to get out and hear the peaceful silence and see sand for as far as you can see was beautiful. The dune bashing was so much fun and exhilarating. We all did sandboarding, with my daughter doing in several times. So much fun. Stopping on top of dune, sitting on cushions, for tea and dates was special. Seeing camels roam free and 2 came over. Wonderful tour.

Had a wonderful time in Muscat doing a city tour with the family. Definitely the highlight of our holidays in Oman. A special thank you to Mohammed who made this possible. We visited the Grand Mosque, Muttrah Souk, National Museum, Sultan's Palace, Royal Opera House , fish market plus more. Highly recommendable!

It is important to note that this tour operator runs tours all over Oman. My tour was an overnight camping trip in the desert, Rub Al Kali (aka Empty Quarter), and other sites in southern Oman. Mr. Hamad, tour manager for Bediyah Safari Tours, arranged the tour. Mr. Alawi was my guide, and what a great guide he was! He was very professional and at the same time warm and friendly. He is a human encyclopedia of Oman...everything from history, geography, culture, food, economics...very informative! He expertly navigated the desert finding excellent places to watch the sunset and set up camp. Lunches, dinner, breakfast, snacks...all provided. All camping equipment was provided and in good shape. A satellite phone was on hand for emergencies.

The two best parts of the experience:

1) Mr. Alawi: He added a personal level to my trip that I would not have experienced had I not done the tour. It was truly a cultural exchange around the campfire as we compared and contrasted our countries, cultures, and experiences. He fine-tuned the tour to my interests and showed me things only a local would know.

2)The Empty Quarter: The whole tour was great, but the vast size and remoteness of this desert was stunning! Before the trip I was debating between Wahiba Sands and the Empty Quarter...I'm glad I picked the latter. Although it's harder to get to, the natural beauty and scale of this places makes it worth it. At night it was absolutely silent and the lack of light pollution allowed for a planetarium-like sky complete with shooting stars. During the day the rolling sands and monster dunes create endless photo ops. Meeting Bedouins, their camels, ancient ruins...all icing on the cake!

Overall I found Oman to be a beautiful country of friendly people. If you have the time, make your way south and book this tour...you'll be glad you did!

We did the "2 Nights Under the Arabian Stars" tour. It was amazing! We wrote to Hamad and asked if he could personally be our guide, since we had read so many positive reviews about him here on TripAdvisor. Hamad showed us the true culture of Oman outside of Muscat. We walked through a rural village, the ruins of another, we rode camels, drank coffee and ate dates in the desert with locals, we saw the Indian ocean, we ate great food, we watched the sun set from the top of massive dunes, and we visited wadis with incredible views. Words can't do this tour justice.

To answer a few questions that I know we had before we traveled, just in case you're considering going to Oman and have hesitations (especially in doing a desert tour like this, where you're far from the city and in the midst of a foreign culture):

1. Is it safe? We always felt 100% safe. As others have written in various forums, everyone was so friendly and relaxed. Hamad let us walk through villages without him, and we never once felt even the least bit concerned. It's actually nice how everyone we passed would wave and say "hi" or "salam." It's one of the friendliest cultures. I read that there's very low crime in Oman, and it did actually appear to us to be that way.

2. What if you’re Jewish? My wife is Jewish. I'm an atheist (but look Jewish). No one minded, no one tried to push Islam on us, and everyone treated us so well that at times it actually surprised me. There may be Muslim/Jewish issues in other countries, but we never had any feeling of that in Oman.

3. How should you dress? Don't worry too much about it. Out of courtesy to their culture, just follow the simple guidelines of being somewhat conservative. My wife always wore clothes that went past her elbows and past her knees, because that's what we read is deemed acceptable there. We also read lots of posts in forums about women getting "stared at" wherever they go; I'm not sure why people wrote that (maybe it used to be that way?), but it just wasn't true.

4. Just a heads up, before we going to Oman we read that public displays of affection need to be avoided (illegal). I don't know whether that's actually true, but we simply made sure not to do it. If you're going to Oman, just spend an hour reading up on Google about their culture and you'll be fine.

I'm not usually someone to do a guided tour (even a day tour). I prefer exploring on my own. But in this case, I'm so very glad that I went outside my usual boundaries and had Hamad take us around. Had I not, this vacation wouldn't have been half as amazing as it turned out to be.

We booked a 6 days tour with Bediyah Safari Tours and we loved every bit of it. We had 3 guides during the 6 days and all of them were very into telling and explaining everything about the wonderful country of Oman. We loved it so much that we decided to have another tour with Hamad in September/October through the southern part of Oman. We can't wait to be back and explore more. Thank you for a wonderful time!

We visited Oman for a 2-day, 1-night tour. Our tour was absolutely amazing! We visited the oldest souk in Oman and visited a fort (Nizwa), then made our way to the Bidiyah Sands for the evening. We were greeted with coffee and dates before we set out on our journey. The camels were very docile and the ride was perfectly timed. We saw the sun set just as we made it to our overnight accommodations. We were fortunate and were able to spend the night in a traditional home in the sands. We were treated to a traditional dinner, enjoyed a bonfire, and were greeted in the morning with another traditional meal. The next day we visited wadi bani, a traditional shipbuilding workshop, wadi al-shab, and the sinkhole. Wadi al-shab was absolutely amazing, there is about a 45 minute hike back to some pools of water. From there it was a combination of walking and swimming to make your way to a waterfall. It was well worth the effort to make it to the end!

Mr. Homood, our tour guide, was always prompt and courteous. He picked us up at our hotel in the morning and dropped us back at the city after our tour in the location of our choice. He always had water waiting for us and was open to answering all of our questions about the landscape, culture, and traditions. We stopped for lunch each day in a small town. The restaurants were modest, but the food was fantastic. Definitely try some of the fresh juices!

Overall, this has been one of our most enjoyable trips. We not only saw amazing landscapes, but we learned a lot about the culture as well. If you have a chance, visit Oman!
