Close to the Suq, it is a place that intrigues because there is a huge variety of fish, catch of the day and many people who go there. A small area of the market occupies stalls where the fish are processed, sliced and filleted after purchase. A small cross-section of the city.

Lets face it, it's not really a tourist attraction, at least not for me. The old market, or souq, had more of an attraction because of its history, but this is new. We were there to buy fish (and veg next door) so unless you really want to see lots of dead fish, why bother?

It is not a real tourist attraction but it worths a visit. It is situated near the old port, near the Marina hotel. Is an authentic fish market were you can take pictures and interact with the locals who are very gentle. Also, you can find fruits and vegatbles in low prices. If you have time, pay a visit!

Walked through the fish market when parking the car. Was a little later in the day and full of cruise tourists. Small market and nothing overly special but worth sticking your head in if nearby.

Worth checking out if you're in the area, and we quite like the fresh produce market right across from the fish market, but the fish market itself was a little lackluster. Maybe we were there too late (around 8:30 a.m.)? Maybe it was a slow day? Not sure, but it wasn't as bustling as we thought/hoped it would be. Still worth a gander, but we enjoyed the produce section more--especially because the man we bought some fruit from was so kind and generous to our toddler.

The local Omani’s are super gentil, it’s an authentic way of negotiating and communicating with them (this is already a souvenir on its own). Super fun to just have a quick look and take pictures! 🐟

Even if you, like me, you don't eat fish, this place is still worth a visit. It's a photographer's paradise!

It is located at the West end of the Mutrah Corniche. There is plenty of parking space. You must go there early (around 07:00 a.m.) to see the variety of seafood. There is also a fruit and vegetable market inside. As time passes, liveliness and variety drops. Prices are quite reasonable. Big red mullets, for example, are sold at 2 OMR per kg. At the end of the building, you can give your seafood for preparation (removal of organs & fish scales etc.). Having your seafood prepared, I suggest you to go to the restaurant just across the street for cooking. Upon your preference, they fry or stew it for you for 2 OMR per kg.

It’s an interesting experience to see the daily lifestyle of the locals fishing the night before and bringing there fresh produce in each morning to sell. It certainly a vibrant place and strong smells for your senses

In the center of Muscat, along the Corniche, opposite the Suq entrance, the Mutra Fish Market offers the full range of the day’s catch. Other food shops in the same building offer fresh fruit and vegetable, and other food.
