We took this bus whilst on a stop on a cruise ship. The very useful thing about this is that the bus comes to the cruise terminal and as there is only one route so once you are on you can stay on the bus. Muscat is very spread out with lots of mountains / uninhabited areas so this trip enables you to reach the furthest most points. But beware the bus does take you to the beach area of Al Qurum, but it does not stop there. Its just to show you the sights. In fact the number of stops are quite small but you do see a lot of Muscat and it does stop at the important places so you can get off and explore. Plus its worth getting off along the corniche and walk back into the centre. In the centre it is quite busy but not over the top with a very traditional souk full of bustle and activity and lots of places for coffee and to eat. The complete trip without getting off is approximately two hours and of course the excellent audio commentary is always there to keep you informed of places and landmarks.

This Big Bus is a really great and budget friendly way to get around Muscat and check out all the must visit spots because taking a taxi to do that is simply not a good idea because taxis are insanely expensive and it can cost you $100+ if you roam around the city in a Taxi. I really wish there were better transport options available for tourists because nobody should have to spend such a large portion of their traveling budget on taxi rides!! This is why the Big Bus is a great way to see the numerous attractions there are in Muscat! 🤩

This is a great way to see Muscat and the commentary available on board is very helpful.. but value money it isn't... at around 30 Rials (£60) per person, it's one of the dearest bus rides I've ever taken. Not one I'd recommend unfortunately.

First of all very overpriced for the service offered. Most of the places where the bus stop are not interesting from the tourists' point of view at all, consequently it does not stop in the fairly more visited spots. The timetable has been changing as they pleased the day I've bought the ticket, so I needed to check location of the buses online, which does not update very often. Nobody to ask about the service on the stops except the stop number 1. I took the lesson from this, I will be doing much more research about buses for tourists like these in the future and hopefully make a wiser choice.

Our family frequents the BIG BUS TOURS whenever available when we travel. The Muscat, Oman trip was the latest tour. Even though the city rests on Fridays and not too much is open, we enjoyed the ice-cold water and the open-air seating of the bus as we glided through the lovely city. The excellent commentary pointed out historic sites as well as modern beauty, highlighting the rugged beauty of this Sultanate.

My husband bought the 2-day pass, so we enjoyed the scenery in more detail the second day, hopping off more than the first day. Since it was off-peak season, the bus did not circle around too often, so check the timings when making your plans. Visit the online site and email for tickets. bigbustours.com

Dear Madam, We would like to take the opportunity to thank you for the positive feedback. Friday is usually considered more of a scared religious day and therefore many of the city's attractions are closed part of the day time or for the day. We are happy to learn that you and your family enjoyed the tour and look forward to welcoming you on other Big Bus tours. Kind Regards, Big Bus M.E. Management

If you are looking for value for money you won’t find it here! We paid €71 per head for a very basic tour in the rain. It isn’t BiG Bus’s fault for the rain, but the bus leaked like a sieve! Last week we went to Berlin and the same company gave us a two day two route pass including a walking tour for €25 a head. Now that”s value!!

We like the tour, as it is an easy way to acquaint yourself with the location. The round trip takes 2 hours and is quite lengthy in distance. The cost of 22 Omani Rials per person is expensive, in comparison to other cities. Drivers were good. Organisation was as expected. Quite a lot of the attractions, where the bus stops, were either closed or not open to tourists. If you ask a taxi driver, they will take you to all the places, where the bus stops, for the same price....which is a better bargain, but doesn't give you the time to look around.

The big bus tour is a good way for solo tourists to explore Muscat in a day. It takes you to all major attractions in the city except for the Sultan Qaboos Mosque and provides running commentary as you drive through the city and it's important landmarks. At 22 rial per person for a day it's cheaper than hiring a cab, however their last bus leaves at 5pm which i thought was a bit early. Also the stop for the 'Al Bustan Palace' hotel was a bit misleading as the hotel is a good half hour walk from the stop and it doesn't particularly entertain visitors who are not staying with them. Although the commentary does highlight the Royal Opera as you cross it, the bus does not stop there which makes it a task for tourists to walk down from the al qurm beach stop especially during the peak afternoon hours.

Its a bus tour that is overpriced and not worth the expense. Such a disappointing experience. Save your money and take a red bus. Or you are better off hiring a car. The driver very friendly but it was a drain on the wallet and we did not learn anything new.
