This is a public beach that allows the visitor to see a microcosm of life in Oman. There are three cafes which overlook the Qurum Nature Reserve and the beach itself, but the best thing about the Al Shati Street is the constant steam of slow moving traffic. Every different demographic from Oman comes here. In the evenings, and at weekends, the beach itself becomes the setting for multiple games of football, played mainly by young Omani men. Others drive slowly along the road, in both directions, showing off their cars and checking out who else is around. Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi workers use the beach as a backdrop for photos home, while South Asian and expatriate Arab families use it as a picnic venue. The beach stretches roughly from the Intercontinental Hotel to the Cowne Plaza - up on the cliff, but it is split by the wadi leading to the Qurum Nature reserve and the wadi just below the crown Plaza.
Best times to go? Weekday mornings if you want tranquility. Early evening for spectacular sunsets. Thursday, Friday, Saturday late afternoon, early evening for le tout Muscat.

If you come to Oman and haven't been to Qurum beach, your visit has not been justified..Qurum is the most favorite beach in Oman for everyone as it has a very happening and energetic feel, at the same time it has a vibe which calms you. You are allowed to bathe/swim in the beach and there are changing rooms provided at the beach itself. Also, for tourists, it is the perfect beach to go, as it is surrounded by some good hotels like crowne plaza, intercontinental and ramada.

Beach located in Muscat with lots of public road access points and from a number of hotels (W, Intercontinental, Crown Plaza and some smaller hotels). Huge beach (around 5km accessible) with a few cafes and restaurants off the beach with some picnic shelters on the shoreline Road in some stretches. Really popular beach for locals and residents to relax in the evenings and especially at weekends. Great beach for a stroll and a swim to get some sea air on a Muscat visit.

The sands are expansive during low tide, super soft, and rock free. The beach is pretty lengthy, making it good for walking or running. If you like relaxing but don't want to get all sandy, there are lots of grassy areas as well. There are a sufficient number of restaurants and cafes. There's a chance you'll see some animals: I found a crab and a stingray at different points. In the evenings, you can see football teams descend upon the beaches to play.

Amazing beach in the center of the city, stunning sunset. Breathtaking seashore, love to walk over and watch the sea side. Very relaxing and calming place. Good for morning run or just for swim.

The large beach side in Muscat is the nest spot for walking, running or for beach activities. Around the beach are several restaurants and coffee serve spots. The best time for visit is morning and evening. The beach size is highly affected by flux reflux phenomenon.

The most famous beach of Muscut. Mostly crowded during evenings. Finding parking can be challenging during weekends. Sunset was beautiful. Few restaurants like Starbucks and TCHE. Locals generally come for walks. Perfect location for photography as well.

Qurum Beach is definitely a great place to go with family or friends for picnics or random plans because it’s really clean and peaceful and there are numerous restaurants and cafes dotted along the beach! Grabbing a coffee and watching the sunset seems like something I would do every day now that the weather has gotten so pleasant! November-January is a great time to visit

No. I think it's too mountainous. A short taxi ride to Aint beach or Darsait beach possibly the best bet. Having said that I didn't go to either. It is not like a Bali beach. Not many swimmers. Some beaches you can't swim. QURUM beach is a public beach and is very nice but not many swimmers then of course females must cover up.
Does anyone know where good fishing area in muscat ? which beach ? or is there a jetty where locals fish ? and what do they catch
How far is the beach from the center of Muscat.

Are there any public facilities anywhere on the 4 km strand of the beach? Public washroom, change room, shower?
We are checking out of our hotel in the city at noon and would like to spend the afternoon at the beach before catching our airplane in the evening. So changing in and out of a swimming suit is a must + shower.
Thank you in advance for any advice.

Hello there are public toilet booths but unfortunately there are no showers. If you want to enjoy a day at the beach then freshen up i recommend you can visit Grand Hyatt Hotel directly on Qurum beach where you can get a pool access for 10 Omr per person and a free access to the whole beach that way you can keep your clothing in the lockers enjoy a day at the beach and pool then freshen up and catch your flight

Aucune idée pour la distance entre le port et la plage. Nous y sommes allés en taxi. Les prix de taxis ne sont pas si bas. Il faut négocier.

Commuting through muscat is very easy and thats including Qurum Beach, hence you can arrange by taxi driver so that you can come back as and when you ready to catch up with your cruise timing... Wishing you pleasant stay in muscat amongst the most friendly people and remarkable country that is surrounded by mountains and most beautiful beaches and of course greenery...

I don't think a 15 seater bus could park there. They would have to drop people and go park further away maybe a mile or so down the road.
Is there showers over there and is it allowed to camp?

Do not think you can go camping there. Not sure about showers but probably not.
