Not the best beach in Muscat. Far too many jelly fish, noisy boat and water scooter. Nevertheless if you like to see shark get close to the reef. I recommend parents and kids to wear shoes on the beach and water. This time two Blow Fish was lying on the beach.

A great experience when you travel to Muscat.. The drive from Muscat to Qantab itself is great, and once you reach the beach its quite unique in its views.
Boating is available for those who like that. Avoid summer as its typically hot.

The drive to Qantab beach is spectacular. Unfortunately the public beach there is no longer available for public as a brand new resort is being built on the site. The other access to Qantab beach is either being a guest at Shangri La Al Jissab Resort and Spa or go to the Oman Dive center which will charge OMR 2 per person. I just did the trip there on 11th Nov 2014.

This beach is appox. 15 Kms. from the capital, the winding & steep road is spectacular but need care to drive.
The beach is very clean, safe & serene to enjoy. Parking, toilet, refreshment vendor etc are there.
One can hire a boat too to go far away in the sea.

One of the most beautiful beaches in Oman (capital area) - easily accessible by car, but sadly it is no more accessible to public due to some commercial development.

With the closure of the main public beach due to the new housing development, this section of beach in the main village of Qantab is now the best place to find the little fishing boats to take you out on a ride down the coast to Shangri-La and back. While not at all luxurious (and you will have to get your feet a little wet climbing in and out from the beach) it is a wonderful ride with amazing views of the coast and rocky outcrops. Going through the natural tunnels is very picturesque. I have taken these boats more times than I can remember and they have always been a highlight of the trip. I don't know if it is a good price but, I usually pay 10 OMR for the ride.

Well one thing is for sure.Never go by the pictures on the brochure. Or the pictures on this page. Firstly, the portion of the beach that is freely accessible to the public is crowded by boats and boat-ride hawkers who harass you from the time you land there. The boats are small and seem unregulated by the local authorities since most of them don't even have basic safety built in or in equipment in the event of sinking or drowning. The boat-riders are mostly teenagers or old men who definitely won't be able to help you in times of trouble in the sea. But what struck us with more horror was that small children in the presence of their families were swimming in-between the boats (which are with single or twin motors) of this cramped beach!!!

And yes it's dirty due to the boats fuel probably and parking can be difficult here. Not really worth unless you can manage on taking a safe boat ride of 30 mins that shows you only the water around the rocky shore and people on the two adjacent private beach resorts bathing in a better surrounding. The natural views are indeed pleasant but that's just about it.

I wander what beach the last few reviewers have visited, as the one widely known as Qantab Beach has been barred off public access by land for a couple of years now. Like all the best places in Muscat, it has been taken for one of those uniform "resorts", looking more or less same all over the world and usurping the best beaches in the favour of those ready to pay a lot and only come once in their lives... No one really cares of the residents of Muscat, who are being pushed away from the sea or compelled to travel long distance in order to enjoy the true asset of Oman - pristine sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. The beach in the Qantab village is nice, but I would not recommend anybody to go there in order not to disturb the locals, as it is in the middle of the village. Not far away there are many lovely coves in Bandar Khayran area, easily accessible by boats rented from the local fishermen at a decent price in Seifat al Sheikh. This is a great experience for leisure, swimming, snorkeling, camping... But please maintain the environment free of garbage

it used to be a lovely beach near a small fishermen village. Now it is a construction site for yet another big hotel/resort. You can still go to the village but frankly there isn't much.

The road to the beach is closed.
