Three of us did a tour and tasting at Chateau Lagrange, guided by Justine (who speaks excellent English). She offered to take some pictures of us – which turned out to be the only ones taken of all of us during the five days we spent in the Medoc. Justine provided interesting information on the chateau’s history and wine production. Since the Suntory family business bought the chateau in 1983, there has been tremendous investment in improving its infrastructure. Although traditionally appearing from a distance, you will also encounter impressively designed landscape architecture, wine production facilities, and interior decorating.

Our guide phoned ahead to advise our arrival time. On arrival we were warmly welcomed the very knowledgeable Marie Astrid. She was fluent, clear, and able to answer all the questions thrown at her in a way that was understandable to us all (a group of 8). This Chateau has invested heavily in technology and it is impressive. From the detailed analysis of the land, to computers that can select the grapes, and of course computers that control the temperatures of each individual vat. They have even produced a graphic short film that helps you understand better.
The chateau and gardens are beautifully maintained.

A mediocre experience. Very typical of a lot of the chateaus in Bordeaux this place is very corporate, both in taste and feel, and they produce an enormous quantity of wine that I consider to be relatively mediocre. Their second label was decent, the primary label requires 20 years or so to age, before it's even drinkable.

Nothing remarkable, except the building and the gardens.

Now owned by a large Japanese company. Huge amount of acreage. Tour was very good. Guide very knowledgeable. Tasting was fine. No crudités or accompaniments we’re provided during the tasting.

Recommend you pass on this one and choose another.

I made a reservation for a tour and blending session with this chateau and they blew me off without telling me. (they were winding up a tasting and lunch with wine professionals and I think that is why they blew us off) I was very disappointed. I have enjoyed this wine for decades and looked forward to the visit. They did grudgingly squeeze us in for a tasting but the hostess was disinterested and gave a lackluster tasting experience. I would have given this less than 3 stars if the wine wasn't so good. If you plan to come, make double sure you get a reply to your confirmation.

Dear Canes, First of all, we thank you for your interest in the wines of Château Lagrange and for your visit. I am sorry to hear you were not satisfied with it. We did have a lunch with wine professionals that day but our private table is totally isolated from our wine tourism part, so the guide did not shorten your visit because of this. It appears that your reservation for a blending workshop has not been confirmed by us and therefore we didn't book a time slot for this workshop (which lasts about two hours and requires a lot of preparation). We had other tours booked that day and to be able to welcome you anyway we offered a tasting of our wines. We are very sorry for your disappointment and would be delighted to offer you a private tour for free during your next visit. The Chateau Lagrange team

We had an interesting visit to this chateau where a lot of investment has made it perfect. Our guide was very informative and the wine tasting worthwhile.
