My husband and I planned on visiting a few wineries from our base in Bordeaux and were extremely fortunate to book a visit with Thomas DeJean of Chateau Rabaud-Promis. Thomas was wonderful, very personable and as the winemaker, walked us thru the making of Sauterne. We had the company of the two winery dogs and a very old kitty and tasted several excellent sauternes. If you are interested in a very personable visit at a small production chateau, this is the place. You will love the sauterne and Thomas!

While on a trip to Bordeaux, a small group of four went out without a reservation into the Sauternes wine region to see if we could get access to a winery. After a few different stops with no success, we came to Chateau Rabaud-Promis. Within a few minutes, even without a reservation, the owner came out and took us through an entire tour of his winery and vineyard. He was such a wonderful person and took so much time and care to explain his craft, that you could easily understand the passion that this artisan had for wine making. If you ever get to this area, do not pass up a visit to this gem of a winery.

What a fun wine visit. The winemaker is passionate about his wines and it shows. We enjoyed every vintage we tried, all fantastic.

My wife and I booked a visit with Chateau Rabaud-Promis online, and we loved our visit here. We were greeted warmly by Thomas DeJean, the owner and winemaker of this chateau. He took his time with us, answering questions, talking about the history of his vineyard [he is ninth generation!], describing the terroir of Sauternes and what makes this place so special in viticulture. We visited the cellar, talked of harvest and crush, and could visualize the enormous amount of work happening there during harvest. The wine tasting at the end only added to our love of this place. We entered this visit as curious visitors, and we felt like we left with a new friend.
