I was a guest at the Riu Atol which only opened this year. The snorkelling around the hotel was amazing but diving is my passion and the maldives did not fail to deliver. The cost compared to other dives around the world is very steep. But everyone needs to remember that everything is imported to a tiny island in the middle of the ocean. I chose to do my advanced open water and Nitrox course and got 5 good dives in the most spectacular scenery with the most beautiful creatures. Learning new skills couldn't have been made more pleasurable. Frank and Lee (Lady) made the experiences fun and fascinating. The whole team were so supportive and professional. Penny, one of the divemasters, was also so helpful with information. More instructors are joining soon. The facilities of the school were pristine. The collection point was regimented and very well organised inside. The uniformity of the BCDs, Fins, Masks etc etc kept everything in 1st class condition. Daniel has the centre running smoothly, from front of house. The dive boat Hammerhead, was out of action during my trip. We used another boat, Hotlips or something like that. It's more set up for snorkelling and island transfers, but it did the job. The Last dive, I did, we went on a speed boat for a great drift dive. The reefs varied. Although I have the names of the dive sites I dived.... no.11 was the best. On the others we saw turtle, lobster, eels and large sharks. But this last one was like being in a fish tank with shoals of so many fish swimming around the most developed and stunning coral. I didn't want it to end. Do not hesitate to book your adventures with scuba caribe. We did the jet ski tour to a sandbank and also the private boat for 4, with them too. That included dolphin spotting where the captain found possibly 2 pods of about 100 to 150 spinner dolphins that surrounded us everywhere we looked. Amazing! Then on to an island used my locals for picnics. Take mosquito repellent on this if you go. Then on to snorkel off a stunning island over beautiful corals and fish. We saw eagle rays here. Next stop a sandbank near the hotel however having done that on the jetski trip we just explored the surrounding water and saw extremely large Rays. Please take coral friendly sun lotion on your holiday here. Protect and educate people on the care of the coral around the hotel resort. Ignorant people tread on It, snap it and ruin in for the sea life and other visitors. My only wish was that the management did more to put up signage to educate guests and protect the corals properly, not just by the Water Activity Centre but specifically down by the lagoon. I will never forget this trip to the Maldives. 5* for Scuba Caribe for an A1 service.

Scuba diving underwater with an oxygen tank on your back deep with fishes and corals was an exciting and thrilling time. Was underwater for quite a while. But need to be careful don't be cavalier down there. Keep yourself safe.
