This Museum has a large collection of railway machinery, rolling stock, operational stock and photos. Many coaches can be viewed from inside, and some of the locos can be stepped into. There are things for children to do and to see, as well as a model railway and a large outdoor child's railway. A small cost for a family looking... More

Hello Brian Thanks for your comments, we're glad you found plenty to do, at reasonable cost. Don't forget our annual open day "Railfest" coming on the 9th October - many extra attractions on the day but still the usual entry prices. Our volunteers are always grateful to have your feedback. More

Good half day out, take the kids along and show them the real life steam trains and carriages and learn the history of WA's railway networks and how it helped shape the state.

Dear meltony Thanks for your kind words. Our volunteers do work hard to show visitors why our rail history is important, and fortunately we have several volunteers who enjoyed long careers in the railways so they have good stories to tell! We will pass on your comments to our crew. Regards More

Hi Kevin Thanks for your comments, glad you enjoyed your visit. Many of our volunteers are former railway employees, and/or longterm "train buffs", so we do like to be able to talk about and explain our rail history to visitors. Since you enjoyed the photos in the memorabilia display, can I suggest you also look at the gallery on our... More

My three train obsessed boys absolutely adore coming and looking at all the trains especially "Thomas, Percy and Carriages Annie and Clarabelle". We wave to the trains every time we drive past!

I have always loved trains, I try to visit here once a year to show support to the many volunteers who painstakingly strive to maintain these relics from days gone against the few who will graffiti. It's a bit of a walk from Ashfield station but well worth it. The place is filled with relics from days gone by, and is a walk down history lane. The only thing it's missing is an old orange perth metro rolling stock. I loved walking through all the old carriages. A fantastic collection of books for sale, as well... More

We visited as a group and were shown an overview of the various locomotives, from the very first to later steam engines through to earlier diesel locomotives. Then there was a great building with many early photos and lots of interesting memorabilia. Many of the carriages on display were open for visitors to walk through and see how passengers of... More
