4 adults took the 10 klm descent in 2 canoes today . The staff were wonderful and explained techniques in a briefing beforehand. We set off and capsized a few times at rapids in the beginning and then we remembered what we had been told. We laughed a lot had the best of fun. We were introduced to the wonderful world of the river. Some people picnicked on the way ( water tight drum supplied ). Highly recommended Thank you. We will be back.

We took 2 2 seater canoes on the shortest trip (5km). We went very slowly as all novices and it took about 2 hours once in the water (half an hour after the advertised start time due to the transfer and talk).
Beautiful river views and fun mini white watering.

We hired three 2-person canoes (adult + 10 year old child in each). After collecting our kit - all supplied - a bus transported ourselves and 50 or so others 10 miles upstream to be dropped off and canoe down the stunning Orb. We were given good guidance on the river and told that we could take as much time as we wanted to paddle downstream back to Roquebrun as long as we returned by 7pm. The trip downstream was on a crystal clear river with gentle rapids, through the the mountains, with natural river-beaches to stop and picnic as desired. The river is generally not deep, the canoes are easy to manoeuvre, life jackets are provided, and instructions are given on what to do in the event of capsize, which 2 of 3 of our canoes did (great fun, and easy to rectify !). The weather during our trip was stunning which only added to the beauty of the landscape. For us the trip downstream took around 3 hours. We all felt that at around 45 euros per double-canoe, this was one of the most exhilarating and best-value things any of us had ever done on holiday. I can not recommend this strongly enough for all round good value, well-organised, safe, outdoor activity - don't be put off if you are not used to water sports as we aren't, because you don't need specialist experience to do this activity on the Orb. We definitely wish to return here. (Incidentally, Roquebrun is a beautiful mountain village with great river-swimming even if you choose not to canoe !).

We recently did the 10k trip and it was absolutely fantastic!! We were 4 adults and a 10 year old so hired two canoes and a kayak. None of us have ever done anything like this before, and two of us (myself included) were previously afraid of open water so we were a bit apprehensive to say the least. Saying that - as soon as we got on the water, all anxiety disappeared and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it, I would highly, highly recommend it.
Things that might be worth noting:
- The car park is free but it’s not huge; it’s a bit of a steep decline to it but nothing too scary! You then take a coach to the starting point.
- The staff were fantastic and spoke really good English.
- We arrived 35 mins early which gives you plenty of time to sign the forms; get your equipment; toilet breaks and change out of clothes if necessary.
- You get a plastic tub (three different sizes) for your lunch and valuables which you strap to the canoe. You can get a huge one so you have plenty of space to take towels/ big lunches if you wanted!
- When you get in the water there is a flat, calm section you can practice on before you start down the route and hit the first set of rapids if you’ve never done it before.
- None of us fell out the whole day but the water is so shallow it really wouldnt have mattered if we had. Plus everyone has to wear a life jacket so you feel completely safe.
- Take a leisurely trip at your own pace stopping wherever you want to have a swim, jump off some rocks or have a picnic.
- We went in august so expected it to be rammed but we just let the experienced and big groups go ahead of us and then we basically had the river to ourselves the rest of the way.

100% recommend trying this if you’re a regular kayaker or if it’s something completely out of your comfort zone.

I can’t wait to go back and do it again!!

We opted for the 10km decent through the gorges down to Roquebrun. We did have to sign a disclaimer saying that our children could swim and that they wouldn't mind capsizing. This was a hint i didn't pick up on at the time. We were bused up to the start where we were given a brief induction (what to do if you fall in etc). And off we went. Very soon, we came to some rapids which pretty much set the theme for the rest of the trip. They were pretty terrifying to start with as we had no control and kept crashing into rocks or getting grounded. However, after a while, it become obvious that that the canoes were pretty sturdy and able to cope with being bashed about and the whole thing actually became a lot of fun. The children in particular loved it. Helmets were obligatory for the young children, optional from age 12. I would recommend that everyone wears a helmet.

We went on what is a very beautiful and exciting family canoe trip in August. The owners of this place clearly intend to rake in as much money as possible and put as many boats as they can on the water. They appeared to be lettting at least 50-60 boats onto the river every half hour to an hour. At the same time they tell everyone they should leave 15 metres between each boat when going down the rapids. With that many boats on the river it is really difficult if not impossible to leave that kind of gap and no one was doing so. With no staff to supervise and make sure people were leaving a gap, it just wasn't happening. We capsized in a rapid towards the end of the easiest 'beginners' route when another boat crashed into us. Myself and an 83 year old woman ended up being pinned against a large rock mid-rapids with one capsized boat over our heads and another capsized boat being pushed against us with the full force of the river. It was only through luck we managed to push the boat off us and shove it to the side of the river and get out alive. It was truly truly scary and felt like we were one step away from a potentially fatal accident. It is simply not safe to put that many boats on a river with no supervision and I'm amazed the owners are actually allowed to operate in this fashion.

Its really a fun trip with unexpected (small) rapids. You dont really have to have experience, and there were many kids with parents. You may tip over at the rapids..added adventure for no added price. No one that I saw was hurt by tipping over, it just catches you by surprise.;) We did 10km and it took us about 3hrs with 3 longer breaks along the way.

regardless of age - this is one of the funnest days out you will have in the region. choose either half day or full day - and pack a picnic lunch to stop along the way. they will drive you up the river and all kit supplied. go on a really hot sunny day and the cool water will be refreshing - but count on getting wet, very wet. tie down hats and sunglasses or you will lose them! take your time and enjoy the ride. kids LOVE this - maybe as much as the adults.
