We had a little stroll as we visited Grand Baie, that included having a little wander about the beach, admiring the views and taking a few photos.

The nearby Cuvette beach is better for sunbathing. This is better for a relaxing stroll and the views.

Beach in the center of GrandeBaie.
As i learned , there is no private beach in Mauritius, all are public. This one is very handy being in center and small ambulant eateries around. Could be more clean and with facilities such as sun chairs and umbrellas. I prefer La Cuvette Beach , just 10 minutes walking from center.

Fine for a swim but like most of the island, it's over commercialised, overpriced and overrated.

The local vendors see the tourists coming from a mile away and charge ridiculous prices for everything. Dislike being ripped off

This is my local beach.
Its right in the middle of Grand Baie town but it's a good place to relax and watch the boats in the very photogenic bay.

There are some sun loungers to rent and also benches to sit. Plenty of local fast food - dholl puri, samosas etc on sale and good parking facilities.
No bathroom facilities but not far from the Coeur de Ville Mall which has plenty.
You can swim in the cordoned off area.

If you're in Grand Baie take time out to just sit and admire the Bay.

This beach and area has been made too touristy and looks much like Blackpool. It was recommended but when i got there you couldn't park, there were shops and bars everywhere, loads of people and it was so commercial I thought it had been ruined.

If you do like a restaurants and activities nearby with no walking and the lively resort experience then this is probably your thing.

Arrived on ship and headed to the beach on bus# 82 with our friends Terry and Jean. The beach is close to the road and all manner of shops lining the off side. There are other beaches further on, but this is where we stopped and swam. Groups of locals sit and play dominos with food outlets doing business nearby.
Cold beer is available from the bars, but insist on local currency. Money changers are located close by.
Return to shipside on bus# 115. A good day at the beach

Beautiful beach with great views of the boats sailing in and out. Lots of shops and places to eat around. Although the water is amazing, it wasn't as clear, due to the boat moving around. Really clear and pleasant though! You can also buy sun beds and umbrellas from somebody on the beach too.

The only downfall is that it is right off of the road, and therefore a little noisy.

Beautiful beach, sand is perfect and water a lovely temperature. Also close to shops/restaurants in case you fancy a snack.
Plenty of shade available and the water isn't rocky, just lovely sand.

We decided to travel like the locals. Boarded a bus from the Port Louis terminal. A good sight seeing drive to Grand Baie. Between the narrow streets.Grand Baie was great. Ordered fresh coconut juice served in the coconut with a straw. Just add a splash of Mauritius Rum.
Pristine blue water.
