Worth a visit if you're interested, but it is quite a drive to get there. Nearby the beautiful white sand beach of Simpang Mengayau, which you can see laid out below you from the lookout near the carpark.

This location is super knowledgable for a person who learned about Geology. There is cliffs, bedding sandstone and faults that have appeared on the surface. Exposed rocks with fine to coarse grain textures with brownish to reddish in color make the scenery become more attractive. People need to walk about 500 m to the tip from the car park and it is fine for a disabled person with a wheelchair to access till the bronze globe monument. Just the walkway a bit hilly. …

Visit the Simpang Mengayau and Pantai Kelambu during golden hour. You will be amazed with the beautiful sunset. Also, an umbrella is good for kids and old folks because you have to walk 500m from the parking lot. No entrance fee. Take as many photo as you can and enjoy the beautiful scenery.…

Staying at Kota Kinabulu (KK). We hired a car and drove to the top of Borneo. You need to take a sat nav and use google map on a smart phone. Took us 3 hours with stops along the route. Set off early morning. There are KFC’s and other services on route. Follow the sat nav guidance. You’ll drive through villages, and see some wonderful scenery including the Borneo rainforest. Take some drinks and snacks with you. Wear comfy shoes. Once there, you’ll be able to explore some wonderful pristine beaches, the sea and walks. Loved it. I wouldn’t go with a tour or guide. It’s easy to drive up as long as you follow the sat nav guidance or google maps on a phone. …
