As a person that is deathly scared of bees, it was a new experience to see how the villagers of Kampung Gombizau harvest bees and extract honey. They use a traditional method of letting the honey drip of the honeycomb overnights.
They use smoke from burned coconut husk to disorient the bees for 5 minutes so you can get a closer look at their hive. Plus they have a small shop selling the honey that they have extracted with choice of honey from harvested or wild bees.

Got the chance to see the place after Tip of Borneo. Maybe it would be more interesting if they could find a way that can make the farm more appealing.

Part of a tour through Regent Travel. Our guide was superb and really brought the trip to life. Even my daughter (who is scared of wasps) tried honey straight from the hive. Very basic village but you really felt like you got a taste of local life. Felt special. And the honey is delicious.

had a great visit to the honey farm. the tropical honey has a very unique flavor. guide was great very well informed on the tropical bees. ps still enjoying the honey we brought on our visit

If you love honeybees, here’s the place to bee (Hahahah! Geddit?)! The road leading towards this attraction is not at its best maintenance so do drive with care.
Do:
- Pay for the entrance fee and wait for a guided tour towards the beehives.
- Try holding the honey thingy and take a daring instagram photo!
- Buy and support locally produced wild honey!
- Try it and be wowed by the quality of honey those hardworking bees produced!

Since not much tourist or visitor would pay a visit here, they only do simple demonstration on harvesting the honey when there's people around. The farm was rather small as it is considered as 'village business'.

It's a bit of a bumpy ride and not much no see, but what you do see, is interesting. They show you how 'farmed honey' is harvested.
They build wooden boxes, and the bees build the honeycomb inside it. I was amazed at the uniformity of the honeycomb. So beautifully constructed by the busy bees. The honeycomb is then taken and left to drain, and the honey is harvested just like that, to be bottled. No preservatives, no additives, nothing.
Eating honey from a honeycomb was a sweet new experience too! It's sold in the small shop there where they sell bottled honey as well.
It's hot in the afternoons, do go in the morning or come with caps. Nothing much to see, 15 mins max in the hot afternoon sun.

Was expecting a farm with showing how the honey is processed. However upon seeing a number of small boxes where bees and beeswax, speechless as we were hoping for more.
However, a new experience on how to make bees to be less harmful and how does pure beeswax looks like. Safe for visiting without any special protection and do not visit if during rainy days due to the area will be muddy.
