Another memorial that tugs at the heartstrings. Yet another very sad memorial yet set in such a wonderfully manicured area - such a great contrast to the events and conditions faced by the soldiers of the day.

Pozieres is of immense national significance to Australia but a casual observer would barely appreciate that as a consequence of a visit to this site. The Sir John Monash Centre at Villers Bretonneux helps redress this.

The location of memorial to the 1st Australian Division is fitting given the struggles and loss of life on the Pozieres battlefield. The bunker ruins close-by are more telling as this is the type of strong point that these brave troops faced. The Western Front...More

My husbands Grandfather fought in the 1st WW. This memorial was particularly meaningful. It’s located in a beautiful setting. There is no cemetery here. Just the memorial. A quiet peaceful place to reflect.

Memorial to the men of the 1st Australian Division who tried to capture the heavily fortified Pozieres Ridge. Very Moving.

The Somme took the heaviest casualties of all of WWI and the Battle of Pozieres was particularly viscious in the number of Australians that were lost. My grandfather fought in this battle and it is a really important place for all Australians to visit. The...More

How peaceful it is now. How horrendous it would have been then. To see how well the Germans were dug in and yet the Allies were told to march forward. The area is well preserved and is interesting to visit to give a better perspective...More

Another important place to visit. You see the terrain and surrounds and can't help picturing the horrific events from the past. Museum is worth seeing as well.
