Spectacularly Disappointing
Nov 2021 • Friends
Visited the ‘Spectacle of Lights’ and left wonder why I bothered. Seriously over priced just to see a few coloured lights point upwards underneath trees or randomly places in a small area of grass!!! No evidence of theme, no inspiration and definitely no major planning or thought went into it. Very few over priced drink or food bars. A spectacular waste of money!!
Anyone thinking of going, save yourself the time and money.

Went for afternoon tea and sausage roll on year 25 of the anniversary of my mother-in-laws death as we always do Sunday 7th at approximately 11.30am only wanting two coffee's and two sausage rolls like we always have, the young man who served ( complete muppet ) after serving the customer before me an additional sausage roll out the oven then told me I would have to wait a further 5 mins as they were not ready 😞 yet the customer before me had one out the oven. I spent 5 years working at rufford County Park years ago for Nottinghamshire County Council as a Seasonal Ranger and still have my badge, this is the most appalling service from some young stuck up lad I have ever received in the many many years of supporting and visiting this wonderful place where I have built fences and layed paths and even puddled ponds near the ice house. Such a shame on you big time for this. This appalling service will now be fully spread big time I promise. You can not do something for the customer before you but not for the next customer who has watched the whole thing take place then be told to queue again. Avoid the Rufford Mill tea rooms like the plague they have not got a clue with customer relations and are a complete waste of space. Very slow service and under staffed for a busy weekend. Such a shame another well loved place has gone to rack and ruin 😞 shame on you rufford Mill tea rooms and the male muppet you had there today 😞 I will spread this further 😀

Terrible
Oct 2021
Though not local we have been going to Rufford for many years and love the grounds, shops and cafe, NO wait that is how it used to be.
Now, it is terrible the shop (s) are a waste of time and the cafe terrible. We travelled a long way out of our way because we remembered how good this cafe and shops were. Now if you order food to eat in, you get it in a paper bag. No plate, the girl on the till clearly did not want to be there and had no intentions of doing anything but put your card trough as payment, no cash accepted, and there is even a sign telling you to clean your table as it has not been cleaned. Disgraceful. The last time we will be visiting Rufford Abbey . I have since going looked on the net and noted that it is part run by English Heritage and managed by Parkwood Outdoor, well shame on you it is a disgrace.

Totally Awful
Oct 2021 • Family
Please don’t waste your money on the Totally Spooky event !!!
Went to the Rufford monster hunt last year paid £1.50 for a little map and my nephew absolutely loved it brilliant event .
Looked at it this year and realised it was going to cost £32 for the Totally Spooky event !
I booked tickets and expected something brilliant for the cost !!
HOW WRONG was I what an absolute waste of money words I’m afraid fail me !
It was just like someone had emptied an old movie prop shed and just stuck them under some trees .
Can someone please tell me what is spooky about a Batman and a Superman figure and a few dinosaurs stood in a circle ?
Please Rufford go back to your Monster Hunt I would sooner pay £32 for that than this absolutely shocking walk through the trees !!
Rufford is a lovely place and a good day out but this has rather soured my taste for the place but I will go back but not to a Totally event !!!

The Cafe at Rufford Abbey.
Oct 2021 • Friends
We really like to visit Rufford but we were very disappointed with the Cafe. The 3 Lattes were only lukewarm and mine was quite weak so we took them back. All they did was top them up with hot water making them even weaker.
The cafe use to offer a much better menu and I could usually purchase Gluten free food and the staff use be so friendly and helpful. Now it seems be sausage rolls or pasties.

Had a lovely time at Rufford ACP- we came armed with our own picnic and loved walking round the grounds - we were very impressed how well they are maintained-and the children’s playground is smashing - our 3yo grandson had the greatest time on most of the activities- just a bit disappointed that the boats on the lake were only available at the weekend but other than that it’s a lovely space to wander around- lots of seating available too just to sit and enjoy the view.

History? what history!
Came here expecting at the very least to be able to purchase a guide book to envelop me with all the gorey details of the abbeys inhabitants and their place in its history,no information in the gift shop whatsoever, might aswell have not bothered,to walk around a place of interest not knowing why its there, who built it,who owned it,who lived there who was connected to who is a worthless endeavour, Nottingham city council shame on you, don't get me wrong, rufford abbey doesn't need a £30 million upgrade to turn it into an art gallery and call it a"castle" when its not, just a really informative guide book on sale in the gift shop is all you need do.
