WOW, what a cool place

This place is incredible! You have to go deep down into the cellars to see the old wines and cheeses! The vanilla cookies were the best i ever had. The 10 year old Bitto cheese is to die for! Really a fun culinary experience!

Try the Bitto and the huge selection of wines
Apr 2017 • Friends
If you ever happen to come to Morbegno the Ciapponi is a must to see. The selection of local cheese - especially the Bitto is unique - unluckily also quite expensive.

Way too expensive or a snatch?
May 2017 • Solo
I'm very sorry to have to give this beautiful local shop a negative review but I cannot tolerate what happened to me on my first (and LAST!) visit this morning.

The shop is very nice and quality is certainly very high but 32euro for 0,425kg of Bitto Giovane is way too expensive (that means 75 euro/kg). So expensive that it makes me wonder if it's only very expensive or if he actually screwed me....

A mai più rivederci Mr. Ciapponi!

Extraordinary place
May 2017 • Couples
The store is really extraordinary with different caves for the wines, champagnes and cheeses.
The owner only speaks italian, but offers you to taste some cheese in one of the caves.
Apart from cheese and wine, you can buy different styles of selfmade pasta, polenta, dolcis, marmelades, etc in the store.
So in any case worth visiting :)

A reason to come to Morbegno
Mar 2017 • Solo
Lovely "shop" with huge variety of wine in 3 stories underground wine cellar, cheese aging cellar, collection of all kind of historic tools and equipment, and many delicates all over waiting for you.

Don't miss it
Jan 2017 • Couples
Our tour guide Luca recommended this place. This is how you imagine a real Italian market to be. The store itself is fantastic. But, if you can arrange to go to the 3 level underground wine cellar and the underground cheese aging area it will become the highlight of your Italy trip. A visit to a local winery will top the day off. Very interesting village. Want to spend more time there.

Must shop in Morbegno
Oct 2016 • Friends
This place is a big piece of history - the love of generations for the good food! You can't leave Morbegno without visiting this "food museum", and without buying a piece of Bitto cheese, and Sforzato wine!

A very very very old store
Aug 2016
I have never seen a place as wonderful as this one! Owned by the same family for hundreds of years this alimentari, store but more, makes the best cheeses, meats and wines.

When you walk into the door you are so impressed with the antiquety but then you go behind the scenes to the cellars where the cheeses are stored and aged and wine is kept and then you really fell like you've stepped into the past! I bought some 5 year old cheese and red onion jam to go with it, an Italian tradition, and I eat it with a huge smile on my face. The best dessert ever!!!
