Lovely cove. Visited in October so was nice and quite. Best snorkelling I’d done in Malta. Better than the blue lagoon. There had been a swell and visibility at other places was bad but here was perfect. Lots of different fish to keep you entertained.

It's a remote but lovely place! It's got a natural rocky pool and safe for kids. The water is clear and blue. You can also snorkel.
You can also find fishermen with their boats on the dock on the other side. You can also swim on that side but be careful as it can be a bit slippery on that side.

Went here after visiting Hagar Qim - had a bite to eat in Rita's cafe and then went for a swim/snorkel in the bay - sea was really clear and both kids saw loads of fish!!

A wonderful bay that no one can miss! Spectacular.... nice if you go in winter and even in summer! Views, restaurant,... but still peaceful!

This is one of the remote rocky beaches in Malta which is situated near the town of Siggiewi. It can be reached by car or by bus. You have to go down the stairs to reach the swimming area. There are some areas to put your towels and things. In summer it is very crowded, but very nice. The island of Firfla is visible from here.

Off the beaten track unless you know it's there. The food in the restaurant is fresh and locally caught. Service is on Malta time but no one is in a hurry here. This is where the locals go to swim and chill. Beautiful swimming and snorkelling. Steep to get to but worth looking for. Fair amount of parking which is unusual. The bus also comes here if you are using the busses. Much busier over the weekend so possibly avoid these.

Great cove for sunbathing, relaxing & snorkeling. Popular with divers but still lots to see just snorkelling. Shady benches & some seating on rocky outcrops.

This place was stunning. Gentle enough waves for safe swimming. Shallow enough to walk then it drops off a shelf to about 20 feet deep. It is very picturesque and snorkelling is fantastic here. Was quite busy but not as busy as a sandy beach. Beach/swim shoes are a must you would regret bare feet as the rocks are sharp in places. If you situate yourself in the cave you will also be sheltered from the sun for much of the day should you wish. Parking at the top is free and its a three minute walk down to the sea. All in all fantastic place.

Lots of steps to walk up and down to get to the water but worth it.
A great underwater cave you can spend time exploring, Nice reefs, very shallow everywhere. Great for a checkout dive or just snorkelling.

Is there anywhere to leave belongings when going for a swim? Lockers etc? Or will local restaurants mind bags for swimmers?

No everyone leaves his belongings on the rocks. All I can advise if you rent a car, just take your essentials.
Do you know if you can walk directly from the Hagar Qim/Mnajdra temple complex grounds to the dive site? And how steep and rugged it is?

You can easily walk down to Ghar Lapsi. It is not rugged at all. It depends on your physicality as it will take you about 30 minutes if you are a brisk walker. Coming up is a different matter. All the road is tarmac. There are public buses which pass near Hagar Qim and take you down to Lapsi. Check the time table please as there could be changes. Highly recommend this. Keep in mind the very hot Maltese weather.

Been to this gem of a place. Very secluded and extremely beautiful but last time i didnt get time to take a dip inside the beautiful ocean. I have a question is it too deep or can enter the sea with a toddler not going too far deep into the sea but will stay close to the bay?

Agree there are no shallow parts.
Certainly a beautiful part of the world.

I can't answer this question directly, although there were a few small hotels along the cliff, none of which looked all that appetizing. There isn't much to do at Ghar Lapsi other than take in the view, take the boat tour and have a meal. My approach would be to stay somewhere more central with some interesting evening options like Marsaxxlok or Rabat which are fairly near. The Malta Sightseeing buses are quite frequent and offer an "On and Off" for highly efficient option for visiting places of interest. If you are driving, you will find some of the attractions are difficult to locate - so follow a double decker Sightseeing bus
