About
The Castle, with the park inside, is the heart of Formigine’s territory. It is the icon of the community, the main venue of the collective memory, and it's also the town’s salon with numerous possibilities of enjoyment. The Tourist Information Point is aimed at welcoming visitors and is provided with a bookshop, where you may find information on the monument and on tourist itineraries in the province, in the district and in the Castles of Modena network, linking 17 fortified buildings. Inside the Castle, a restaurant and a wine-bar make the whole experience even more enjoyable. Here you may taste the local food specialties. While it used house the Town Council, the stronghold still holds an institutional role (Town Hall, wedding hall, meetings rooms). The prestigious halls of the Castle are rentable for meetings, convention and events. The Castle is also home to the Multimedia Archaeological Museum which stages the historical events through the installations of Studio Azzurro (Milan).

Yesterday morning we were passing through Formigine, and just to arrive at lunch time, after having ascertained that the town's castle was open to the public with the possibility of a guided tour, we entered. As expected, there was no one there, so the visit was for just the two of us. A girl who is very passionate about her country told us the history of the city and the castle with a guided tour lasting three quarters of an hour at a negligible price. It is absolutely worth visiting the castle, in one part of which it is also possible to organize events and banquets.

Lovely and nice castle. When we visited there was a wedding ceremony on the yard, so we did not disturb them and did not see that side very well.

Ok Italy is full of amazing historic places and here in Formigine village I visited this Amazing little castle in middle of this historic square in face of a Cattolic church.
They show that time by time some restoration was done to maintain the origin

As I said in my review of Centro Storico Formigine, we went to a street food festival and had a blast partying with the locals, drinking, eating, singing, and dancing.

Formigine's castle is "my local": I grew up here. It is lovely for a stroll and interesting for children and well-situated in a pleasant pedestrianised area.

It is most lovely in springtime with green grass and a tree with purple flowers in front of the castle. It is also amazing when decorated with Christmas lights. There is a park and a redtaurant inside. The museum is open only at the weekends or during festivities. It is a nice and somewhat imposing medieval castle, masterpiece of the Mathildean style.

Very well maintained and now used as a restaurant and wedding destination, it is particularly beautiful in the late Spring and summer to take a glass of wine, in the shade in the grounds.
