Located on the Stanford University campus next to the Cantor Art Center, this was a very accessible garden full of Rodin sculptures.

Visitor parking was right across the street and free on the weekend.

We got lucky and visited in between the atmospheric river downpours. A lot of other people were on campus and more than I would have expected.

The Gates of Hell stood out above at 6 meters tall. One of six castings, it was filled with writhing bodies from Dante’s Inferno.

Other sculptures were scattered throughout the garden some in groups, heads only or partial bodies. You could get as close as one wanted which was nice to see the details and expressions.

Worth visiting while seeing the Stanford campus.

Auguste Rodin was known for dramatic depictions of human emotions in his art and his sculptures. We did not expect to see so many sculptures from one of our favorite artists in a University Campus, but it was really nice to see several of his pieces in one small manageable garden right outside the Cantor Arts Center. We also liked the fact that they left enough spaces in between each piece, so people can admire, appreciate and photograph each sculpture separately without getting in other people’s way.

Obviously, this is the largest Rodin collection outside of the Museums in Paris, and will certainly have a huge cultural impact on the students here.

Our absolute favorite in the Garden was “The Gates of Hell” Door flanked by Adam and Eve on either side, and “The Thinker” at the very top. “The Burghers of Calais” collection in Memorial Court was also a great spot to take interesting photos of us next to the huge sculptures in similar poses. That was funny, as well as memorable.

Worth going to the Stanford Campus just to see this collection.

This is worth a visit. I particularly love the Gates of Hell by Rodin. As he is my favorite sculptor, I like to visit here when I can.

The outdoor sculpture garden is a nice place to visit when you are out for a family bike ride. Even my teenage boys enjoyed it! If you have more time, go inside the museum next to the garden; it's free!

We went to the Cantor Center for the Visual Arts at Stanford university to see the sculpture garden and the Rodin pieces housed inside as well. There are about 400 Rodin works at the Center, the largest collection outside of Paris. I wish we'd planned a little better so we could have spent more time there - it was really rather overwhelming. My wife and I were still jet lagged from our flight from Korea the day before, but the guide was lively and her talk on the history and meaning of the pieces was interesting even through our mental fog. We didn't even get around to seeing the other art exhibits the Center has to offer (Native American, Mesoamerican, etc.), but we will next time we're in the area.

Everyone in our party was an adult. I'm not sure kids or teens would like it that much, though.

Stanford has the largest collection of Rodin sculptures outside of France, and I have visited them often. The sculpture garden adjacent to Cantor Center is full of important pieces, carefully arranged and accessible for anyone to visit for free! Parking in the area can be a challenge but well worth the effort to spend some time with this wonderful art. You can walk up to each statue and admire them from all angles, touch them, and marvel at the skill and artistry to create

Beautiful arranged original and casted Rodin pieces in a nice setting by the Art Center. Adan and Eve and Meditations (with and without arms) caught our attention.
