We rocked up here earlier today and astonishingly luckily managed to catch Albert himself; 14th generation winemaker (very much recommend to call and book in advance mind).

Wow, what a journey you go through here, it’s so much more than just a tasting. Albert has a wonderful turn of phrase, this not only makes you visualise the wine but helps you understand why it causes such a sensation. It’s approachable, captivating and thoroughly enjoyable. Alberts’ wines are not only incredibly interesting but are as magical as his stories- for which he pairs beautifully.

On top of this, his wines are also very reasonably priced. This is a must do in the Alsace, the best tasting experience and hands down the most interesting wines we have found here.

If you want to find the real magic amongst Alsation winemakeres, then you’d be daft to miss this place. I already look forward to my next visit.

If you could only do one wine tasting and tour in your whole life, this would be THE ONE! We scheduled a tour and tasting, and got incredibly lucky with our timing as that day was by appointment only and it was just myself and my boyfriend along with Albert giving the most informative and special winery tour we have ever had. The place itself is like a fairytale and there are so many special and unexpected details everywhere. Albert gave us the history of his property and taught us more about wine and how to experience it in 90 minutes than we have learned in our lifetime. His passion is evident and infectious and the wine itself is amazing. We did have a little interruption with a group that popped in without a reservation, and Albert handled it all graciously for everyone involved and managed to accommodate everyone needs. My only disappointment is that there is no shipping to the US and so we were limited in what we could buy to enjoy later. I honestly would have bought so much more than we did! I need to become an importer so I can enjoy Albert's wine for forever. Thank you Albert for making our weekend!

My wife and I participated in a wine tasting and tour of the Alsace Seltz Winery while exploring the Rhine River on a Viking River cruise. This was one of the best wine tasting experiences I have had. I learned a great amount about wines, especially organic wines, and was able to taste some excellent wines. It was nice to visit a winery which could trace its heritage for 15 generations. The owner was very passionate and provided a great experience. I recommend this tasting to both the novice and experienced wine connoisseur, and a definite place to go if you are in the area.

My husband and I came here with a small group for wine tasting and I have to say this has been the best we have ever experienced. We come from California and had had wine tours from Temecula, Paso Robles to Napa. Never has the winemaker spent the day with us explaining the wine. Typical wine tours involve being shown around the property by a hired employee with the occasional wave at the winemaker as you walk by. This experience was by far superior. Albert really has such a passion for his craft. You can feel it as he explains the beauty of the wines he produces. He gave us such a different and unique understanding of the wine, how to pair it with food, and what makes good wine in general. This was such a highlight of our trip to France, Highly recommend coming here if you want to try some good wine.

If you are in the Alsace region, Domaine Albert Seltz is a must stop along the Route des Vins d’Alsace. Located in the quaint village of Mittelbergheim, the winery is owned and operated by Albert Seltz, a fourteenth generation vigneron, who is passionate about his grapes and the soil from which they come. Albert is as interesting as the wines he makes. The result, each of his wines have a story and when paired to an Alsace prepared dish of a meal make for an exquisite experience for your taste buds. The Sylvaner Grand Cru is unbelievable when accompanied by local foie gras and will please the palate as nothing else can.
Albert is about to open a new feature to his 400 year old winery, a tasting room with a cooking facility. I will definitely be back for that experience.

The last thing vintner Albert Seitz jokingly requested of us as we were departing his stunning wine cellar was to leave a 5 star review on Trip Advisor if we had enjoyed our time with him. So here it is, folks, a heartfelt 5 stars for Albert and his obvious love of and dedication to producing superb organic wines. I’d actually give Domaine Albert Seltz more than 5 stars if it was possible. My husband and I have been on many winery tours, but Albert will stand out in my memory for his gracious hospitality, deep dedication to the vines, and entertaining showmanship. Bravo Albert, well done!

For our group of inexperienced wine tasters, Albert displayed the "heart" of wine making & tasting. He implored us to think of it from an artistic perspective & included the art of cooking & food suggestions to pair. He was fun, informative & inspiring.
I most certainly recommend adding this to your travel agenda & as an opportunity to grab some delicious wine to share with family & friends at home. You will not be disappointed.

FANTASTIC WINE EXPERIENCE - but remember to make an appointment.
We came unannounced and were very lucky that a couple who had booked an appointment did not show up. We had a very informative tour and it certainly didn't matter that we are totally ignorant of wines. Albert spoke vividly and passionately and gave us a fine insight into his world of wine, and the wines tasted fantastic.
We can only recommend a visit - remember to book an appointment, otherwise you risk leaving disappointed.

On a dream of a lifetime trip on Viking up the Rhine, one of our chosen stops was at the Albert Seltz Winery. This wonderful small winery has been in the family for generations and one can feel the passion and love in making this wine through our host Albert. The smells, the feel, the extraordinary experience was not lost on us as Albert guided us through several tastings of his most delicious Rieslings-dry, not sweet (his muscat for that) beckoned us to buy several bottles as well as his Pinot Noir. Try this one- he made it for himself. We forced ourselves to wait until we got home (Napa CA) to remind us of our favorite visit on our trip. Thank you Albert!

Based on various blogs that I had read and this name came up several times, we wanted to go here. On the morning itself we called and happened to be able to join an American group of 18 people. At first this scared us a bit given the amount of people, but it didn't bother us during the tour. Albert indeed spoke very passionately, in a humorous way, about his wines and also spoke good English.
It was precisely the open-mindedness of this man that really appealed to us and there was a relaxed atmosphere, but it doesn't have to be too serious. We had a great time, the cellar is beautiful and for 10 euros we got to taste 4 wines, all of which were special in their own way.

Albert talked a lot about wine and food combinations, so when we asked afterwards for a cheese shop nearby, we got some good tips. Delicious cheese.

There is also a friendly cat walking around, a plus for us.

Recommended to go!
