We had a great day out
Rich is a great guide, very patient with slow coaches like me...
Thanks for an excellent trip, Rich - highly recommended. I bet he's a a really good coach as well, he was full of good advice on how to improve my paddling strokes even on this trip.

My fiancée and I visited North Wales and were inspired by the area (as you can't help but be! ) to do something adventurous.
Mon Active took us out on the Menai Strait in their kayaks, they provided all the equipment we needed and all the reassurance required to brave getting on the water. Richard, Emma and surprisingly their young daughter Mabli were all complrtely at home on the water. I had limited kayaking experience and my fiancée was a complete beginner, however we felt safe in their company and instruction.
Richard gave off obvious competence and experience on the water and what was great was his patience with us getting to grips with things. Once we'd found our sea legs we were able to absorb some of his local knowledge of the area that the family have.
I was brought up in North Wales but seeing the Menai Strait from a kayak gave me a completely new perspective of the landscape. It was an absolute pleasure!
I recommend Mon Active to anyone wanting to see North Wales and Angelsey from a different angle.

A family group of 5 of us went out with Rich today and had a great experience. Some had previous experience and some were novices. He gave a good briefing and took us out for a few hours with regular stops and lots of local information.
We'd all recommend this activity regardless of previous experience. Thanks

We tried kayaking and indoor climbing on two separate occasions. I have physical disabilities so I need a instructor that is willing to think outside the box and spend time to adapt activities as required. Rich and Emma are so positive and I am happy to say my needs were met. The day we did the kayaking it was poor wether but there was little stopping Rich or Emma so off we went, Rich supported me in a double Kayak, so now I can say ive kayaked and in the rain. The climbing was another new activity for me and my boyfriend, and I did wonder how I was going to do it due to limited hip movement, my prosthetic leg, fixed ankle and severe scoliosis. Luckily my upper body strength is good, and Rich had a range of ideas and equipment to assist me and I was pleased to be able to complete various challenges. My boyfriend also loved both activities and came away feeling fantastic! We look forward to our next visit!

Thank you for your kind review, Kimberley. It was a pleasure to take you and Stu out on both occasions - next time I'll try and arrange some better weather for the kayaking.
Cheers
Rich

We've been out twice with Rich now. First time along the Menai Straits and second around Great Orme/Llandudno bay. Both times have been fantastic! I was very nervous the first time but after ten minutes was at ease and felt very safe in Rich's company. We even took my partners mum for her 70th and she loved it! Would definately recommend to anyone no matter what your experience.

Getting further, faster, with developing my kayaking techniques. The one to one tuition is excellent, delivered in appropriate, accessible, coastal venues.

As Rich and Emma have now set up Mon Active, it only right that I write about my experience of different adventures with Rich and Emma. It is important to note that I have and continue to recommend the services that they provide to friends and family as a result of my direct experience.
I have given a few examples below, there are too many enjoyable adventures to talk about.
Rich always takes time to prepare the adventure, checking websites, contacting his contacts to ensure that conditions are suitable and appropriate to the experience of the group. Rich will also prepare his kit, ensuring that he and the whole group are suitably equipped.
Sea Water Kayaking - I have been multiple times with Rich, most recently in May 2014. The weather wasn’t great so Rich changed the area we were going to paddle in, he ensured that we were all kitted up, eaten and drunk enough. Rich was able to keep the group together and support the weaker paddlers of the group. My other half, is not really into extreme sports but she felt safe with Rich and would happily go back on the water again.
Climbing Snowdon - We climbed Snowdon in 2007 with the Hallam Disability group, Rich made sure that everyone was properly equipped and ensured that everyone could keep the pace whilst being very aware of each persons abilities and disabilities. We all got up and down Snowdon with ease.
Outdoor bush craft - Rich showed the children how to make arrows out of flints, not only explaining their purpose but also the risks associated with them. The children, all five of them, age ranging five to twelve were all able to give great detail about everything that they had learnt. They still talk about that experience six months on.

I had limited experience of Kayaking and none on the sea; I would consider myself an anxious beginner. I went out as part of a group in May 14, prior to the paddle, Rich very kindly and discreetly provided me with a wet suit that would fit. (I am no size 10!).
Once in the kayak and on the water I did my best, under Rich’s instruction to paddle away from the beach - unfortunately the wind and current (and my lack of paddling skill) meant I ended up heading for the beach again. Rich hooked me to his kayak and pulled me into the sea so that I did not spend my time in a kayak on the beach!
I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and felt completely safe knowing Rich was leading, I would recommend a trip with Mon Active.
Get yourself an activity booked - it will stay with you as a fantastic memory of any trip you take.

Thanks
Karen

Hi Karen, age is no boundary to getting involved with some paddling! We don't have any space this saturday unfortunately. I could fit you in Tomorrow or Friday on a half-day beginner's course. The cost of the course is £40 per head. Probably best if you ring me on 07803 146897 or email me via our website / facebook page. The cost includes boat, paddle, wetsuit, buoyancy aid and instruction.
