About
This picture-perfect beach is a must-see in northwestern Crete, known for its clear waters and the rocky landscapes that surround it. Here, you can relax by the shore and take in the scenic views, swim in the turquoise waters, canyon down the cliffs, or even sail the area on a boat tour to discover other gorgeous beaches. The beach gets busy during summer—reach early to snag a parking spot by the church of Agios Spyridon before hiking down to the beach. The path down is a bit steep, slippery and rocky, so wear a comfortable pair of shoes. – Tripadvisor

    Beautiful secluded beach
Beautiful secluded beach! Few things to note; Steep climb up and down to beach. Do able in sandals but much easier in shoes or sandals with a back to them. Very minimal shade available so either bring an umbrella or go early to get a spot along the rocks. The goats are very friendly and hungry, they will dig into bags for food so be prepared :) they are so cute! It’s a rocky beach so water shoes might be helpful to walk to and from the water but once you’re in the water is gorgeous and clear. Perfect for snorkeling! We had a great time and would definitely go back

    Unique beach worth a visit
Unique and beautiful small beach at the bottom of a steep hill and surrounded by rocky hillside. Crystal clear water awaits if you are able to make the climb down to the beach. There are no amenities, so take own drinks and food. You can park on the steep road if the car park is full. Put the rocks behind your wheels if you park on the road. Keep an eye out for the cheeky goats that roam the car park and beach.

    Iconic beach in Chania
One of the most beautiful wild beaches in the Chania region. If you're thinking of checking it out, here are a few things to keep in mind: There are 3-4 regular bus trips daily from the central bus station in Chania. The drivers are pros who know the route well, and the price of one ticket won't break the bank. The last stretch of the road has some seriously steep turns. If you're not confident behind the wheel or if you've got a rental car you're not familiar with, it might be better to stick to public transport. The path down to the beach is rocky and gravelly, so proper hiking boots are a must. Don't attempt it in anything less. The swimming spot is fantastic, but if the weather is bad, it's safer to stay out of the water. Deceptive currents and strong waves can be a challenge, even for strong swimmers. Forget about finding restaurants or shops in the area, so grab your supplies before you head out. Last but not least, get ready to make some goat friends. They'll likely approach you looking for a snack. Consider bringing them a little something to munch on, or, even better, a container of fresh water. Enjoy your beach day!

    Paradise
This was really paradise, a part from the acess to the beach that's made trough descending a small mountain to the base, it was really excellent. Be aware there are no support bars or restaurants, take your food and drinks with you. Loved it

Went there on a Sunday and were kind of disappointed. Basically it is a beautiful piece of nature but this amount of visitors made this place really crowded. Access to parking place is easy but climbing down to the beach requires good footwear. Trip not suitable for little kids.
Water itself is ok. No snorkelling due to poor visibility under water.

The first thing you will see are rocks in the middle of the road. They are there to place under your wheels so that your car does not slide down the mountain!
Then you will notice that the path - well stone track - has no barriers or rails and has a vertical drop off.
I would suggest real shoes and not sandals for the descent and that if you have any fear of heights at all then avoid the long drive to this gorge. Any sort of disability or physical condition and I would recommend the boat tour directly to the beach below.
The beach is beautiful and scenery amazing, but the beach really only allows for about 20 sunbathers.

We approached the place early in the morning. The road to the beach was a bit tricky, but the bus driver seemed very confident. The duration of our travelling was about 30-40 minutes with a small bus not full with other tourists.

The view of the place is amazing. You need to make your way down to the beach through the cliffside. Not as hard as you think and climbing back is way easier, but you should keep your shoes on instead of your sandals.

The beach lies between two big cliffs and the water seemed more salty for me. If you were brave enough, you are able to jump off these rocks from three different spots.

Though the goats of the area are really friendly, you should keep your food in your backpack. They are very calm, you can pet them if you want.

The place is very crowded and some of the tourists are very rude with the animals.

It was one of our best activities, really recommended.

Amazing, secluded, potentially a bit perilous! Go early in the morning to avoid there being too many people, we got there at 11:30 and there were only 2 other blokes! The sunset is such that we were advised not to go in the late evening.

Really impressive, the walk down is over some pretty jagged terrain, be warned as other users have said.

Also be warned on the parking, scrapped the bumper on some dodgy bits - whoops!

Fab scenery! Great colours for "brochure's" pictures. But hard to get there, road with sharp turns, dangerous and it is normally crowded. The beach is very small. There was a "lovely" goat walking around who made us smile and was the funny anecdote until it started eating people's food and even pee on some girls towel.

After renting a car to drive to Elafonisi Beach, I randomly noticed this beach on my Google Maps and decided to check it out. Wow, best decision ever! I actually loved this way more than Elafonisi. There were all of 15 people when I arrived, and I've never seen water more gorgeously blue in all my life. The drive down to the parking lot is tight switchbacks, where you're greeting by goats who are curious to know if you have any food for them. From here you scramble down the side of the mountain (there is a trail), and end encircled in this little spectacular paradise.

The beach is amazing but I don't think other reviewers give a fair warning as to how dangerous the ascent to the beach is. If you are afraid of heights do not attempt this, see if there is a boat option. The path is way too narrow at times, at the very least don't bring a lot of stuff and make sure your hands are free(small backpack so you are balanced as you go down and up the mountain).

Really worth the trip there
Preferably end of the day so that the beach isnot Packed by people as the space to it is limited
You will be amazed by the view from the top
The hike down is fine. Would suggest wearing good shoes as the rocks may be slippery
Go on the left side to get down. And on the way up take the “stairs” up on the right side of the beach (shorter)

Breathtaking view and sensation you drive down there to the parking lot
I really suggest to take a video of the trip to the parking lot. Stunning and freaaaaaaaaaky
Hope you get your nerves and senses intact. 😮😮😮😮😮

Amazing and thrilling a must do

I was worried based on all the reviews here about the hike down to beach and it’s really not that bad. There’s 2 paths down to the beach on each side of the mountain. I took the hike down on the left side (left if you’re facing the beach from the parking lot.)
It’s a 15 minute hike down and if you’ve done any unpaved hike before you will be okay. Wear black shoes as the sand on the path is orange and will make your shoes dirty.
The beach itself was packed with people and goats as well, so it’s a bit difficult to find a spot but we didn’t have any issues.
The water itself was a bit cloudy and the water is super deep.
Bottom line, I’m glad I did it, but in hindsight, the view from the parking lot was better than the beach/water experience itself!
