About
Holders Farmers' Market was created in 2011 to help local organic farmers sell their produce to customers at a fair price. Great place for organic produce, food and juices, craft and live music. Holder's market is a wonderful cultural experience for the entire family. Plus, you never know which celebrity you'll meet at Holder's Hill Market located on the "Platinum Coast".

We really enjoyed our visit to this market.
Parking was easy and it was lovely to buy fresh home grown produce although the roadside sellers are cheaper.
We had a lovely wander around the arts n craft stalls buying a beautiful painting by a local artist and investing in some lovely handmade candles to take home for friends.
We also bought local patties and some great banana loaf.
Well worth a visit on a Sunday morning.

We visited on Sunday February 23rd and picked up great fresh producing including lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, mint, etc. Much fresher than you can find in the local grocery stores. There were also a few craft stalls selling jewelry, clothing, etc. It's a great place for a light breakfast and coffee or juice as well. Allow about one hour.

I stumbled across a Rastaman who look like 52, but told me he is 70. After he told me his secrets I had to buy his items

We had never been to Holders before but had some friends visiting who had heard about it and wanted to go. There were not a great deal of stalls but the vendors were friendly enough and the location is nice. Our day and indeed the next two days were ruined by eating sausages from the great british sausage company's stall. We all had severe food poisoning from later that day and it put us out of action for two days. Not nice for any of us but particularly bad for our friends who last two days of their holiday. As my wife said, the guy cooking the sausages looked like he hadn't washed for a month. A word of advice to the organisers - you have a good thing going here that is being ruined by a vendor with highly suspect hygiene standards.

Every year when we visit Barbados Sunday would not be Sunday without a trip up Holders Hill to the weekly Farmers Market.

How disappointed we were when the Farmers market has now turned into a craft market with just a few stalls selling fresh produce.

It is still fun to wander around the stalls and is still worth a visit but maybe it should be renamed to Holders Craft Market rather than Farmers Market.

I highly recommend visiting the farmers market on sunday 9-2pm, near the polo grounds. I had no trouble finding with signs and using gps on my phone.

I bought good food: vegetable quiche, beet hummus, papaya, swiss chard, escarole, and taboleh. The cliff has a mobile stand selling amazing bread, and croissants. truly exceptional baked goods from the cliff.
Reading some of the previous reviews, my word, meoowww! yes the market is full of tourists. the farmers market is 5 minutes away from the 'gold coast' where rooms are $1000 a night. what do you expect? all the produce looked very good and I did not get sick from any of the food from the stalls. You can buy produce all over the island from stands set up casually. and is a good option. However, I think you might find more variety at the farmers market.

What a let down!

Okay - so I live literally minutes from Holders House, (the grounds of which is home to the Sunday morning Holders farmers market). Went once years ago but was too young to be concerned with reviews. I've been wanting to come back and try it for months and the opportunity came last Sunday morning. I wish I hadn't wasted my Sunday morning on this nonsense. I would actually drive to Brighton market on a Sat. morning first which is much futher for me before I would come here again. Granted, it was raining so probably wasn't the most ideal weather for a trip to the farmers market.

First off, prices on certain items need to be printed or tagged somewhere. Everyone wants to make their money, but do we really need to poke each others eyes out just to get it! There shouldn't be a tourist price and a local price. I think we have moved past those days, haven't we?!

Now were on the grounds of what they call a farmers market. It is so small, you can see the entire thing in a little more than 5 minutes. The stalls are so basic, a couple of people selling ordinary vegetables, a guy selling spices and rubs etc, another person selling hummus, someome offering soaps, a dusty and completely useless antique room, some artwork on sale and a few more things on offer over on the lawn. What first drew me to wanting to try the market was how engaging their instagram page looks. Why is it so difficult for people to actually offer what they promote? I mean it was so underwhelming I can hardly put it into words.

One of the things I was initially most interested in was the bread stall, except there was no one managing it. I was prepared to spend the $15 for a bread and after standing around for a few minutes, someone finally points to a man sitting under a tree smoking a cigarette to come and attend to his customers. From the time he drew closer to me I was immediately turned off. Firstly, his teeth were completely black and stained from all the cigarettes. He also smelt of so much smoke and that too was such a turn off, especislly when he is selling food!! I'm sure you can guess what happened next. Bread sale lost! The owner of this stall might have a good product, but unless they get someone who is concerned about his/her cleanliness and is actually interested in promoting the product they will not do as well as they could, unless these issues are addressed. As soon as I walked away from his stall he just went back to his chair and lit another cigarette! - no interest whatsoever. Another issue I noticed - no signage or no explanation of who or where the breads are made. This however, was thankfully not the case with the other vendors products.

All I can say is a place like this has the potential to be SO much more. The organizers need to figure out a way to bring this place to life. Holders House, for many years has also been home to the wonderful Holders Season, where we have spent many wonderful nights. Please don't ruin my good memories of this place with a farmers market this disappointing!

The market is a great way to start your Sunday. Lovely crafts, organic veggies and lots of baked goods and food. Even live entertainment. We will be back!

Local food, beer, music, local arts and crafts, produce and lots more to see and taste. It is a great way to spend your Sunday afternoon and then stroll down to the beach.

Tank you very much "SamiehEP" for your lovely comment! But the market's opening times are from 9am - 2pm. Hence, not so much into the afternoon.
