Very poor value for money
Sep 2020 • Family
We took our young children to Rheidol riding center on two different occasions for supposedly 30 minute lead-rein rides. Both times, the rides started late and were 20 minutes long at most. For £18 per child this is terrible value for money. After the second ride we emailed to ask for a partial refund (hoping the first ride was an anomaly) but we received no reply. I couldn't recommend this riding school at all.

Best Riding School Ever
Aug 2020
I started riding at Rheidol just after the lockdown was lifted after having a two year break from horses and riding.

I had previously lost confidence in my ability to ride, and I was a little nervous to get back in the saddle. I was also worried about the atmosphere on the yard-were they nice people? I was a little anxious to get back into the horse world, and I wasn't sure what level of coaching to expect from the instructors. I booked a lesson and on the way to yard I was very nervous.

I was delighted to find out that the staff were lovely, and their lessons fantastic- before I started riding at Rheidol I really struggled with my contact and my cantering. In the few months I've been riding there, with their help, I can now hold a good contact and I have learnt the true magic of inside leg to outside hand. I could never have done this if the staff had not been so clear and confident-giving with their teaching. I am still working on my cantering but I am feeling so much more confident about it and my transitions are improving.

The horses I have ridden at Rheidol have also been amazing. They are confidence givers, and they step up to fit your level of riding. It has been a pleasure to ride such lovely horses, and it is clear that a lot of time and care has been given to get them ready for clients to ride.

The hacking at Rheidol is honestly the best I have ever experienced. Very little time is spent on the roads as there is so much off-road hacking available, and the views are superb. The horses are also very well behaved during the hacks, and from my experience on the horses I've ridden they keep you safe.

I wish I had found Rheidol sooner. It's honestly the best riding school I have ridden at in my whole life, and I will be very sad to leave it when I graduate as you don't find riding schools like this very often.

Training for stages and lessons
Feb 2020
I’ve been riding at Rheidol off and on for the past 16 years with Iola Evans. Throughout my time there all staff have been have been extremely welcoming, helpful, supportive and friendly. I started there while at university and with Iolas help have gained my BHSAI and have travelled back since leaving in 2006 as the tuition there is absolutely of the highest standard and well worth the 4 hour travelling time. I don’t have a lot of confidence at times especially in the jumping but Iola took her time and carefully pushed me to achieve my goals. Rheidol has played a huge part in where I have got to today! I can’t recommend Rheidol highly enough to anyone. There is only one place I will send people and that’s here.

Great Ride Out
Aug 2019 • Solo
I had an hour hack out with Joyce and it was fantastic even on a soggy morning! I am an experienced rider who hadn't been in the saddle for a while but was soon put at ease and matched with Herbie who gave a lovely ride. I will definitely return.

So good we went twice!

Lovely people, very sweet and patient with my 3yr old and 6yr old. Had two 30minute walks, and then they were happy to us to stay around to watch some of the advanced lessons and to see the other ponies and horses.
Definitely would recommend spending an hour here.

Best in Ceredigion

This is a great facility. The staff are friendly and very helpful. I work for the Local Authority and take different children here, for one off sessions or continuous (they cater for all). The children I take are of mixed abilites, attitudes and behaviours. The staff adapt well and have various techniques as well as patience. I would highly recommend.

Great facilities catering for all abilities
Nov 2018 • Couples
I'm a rusty intermediate rider; my partner is a beginner. We went on a hack, but spent ten minutes in the arena so the instructor could gauge our ability rather than take our word for it (very sensible given what I've seen on some holiday rides). Joyce was an approachable and knowledgable teacher, and I really felt my partner was making progress with rising trot (which is just practice really). I rode a Haflinger, which was a novelty, very well mannered and responsive. My bloke rode Bob, a typical unflappable piebald gypsy cob. We would definitely love to raise his level to go on a longer ride in the stunning countryside. Note that we don't drive and travelled there on the Rheidol steam train, which worked out perfectly.

Simply one of the best Equestrian establishments in the UK

Wales has become a regular holiday destination for us, we try to visit most years, it's a very relaxing, peaceful distraction from the hustle and bustle of our usual weekly grind.
We've now been returning to the Rheidol Riding Centre for at least 3 years, we usually ride at least twice when we're over for a week.
My daughter and I normally share horses but haven't found a good horse to share in several months.
This year my 9yr old daughter had a lesson with Becca on Dotty, considering my daughter has done no riding this year, she had picked up a few bad habits and was a bit rusty. Becca's clear and supportive instruction, meant my daughter had a brilliant hour lesson, ironing out those bad habits as well as working on leg yielding, turns on the forehand and improving how she asks for transitions.

Two days letter we had a lovely hack. Joyce took us up the hill so we could enjoy the views. The views across the Rheidol Valley are more than impressive. You need to be an experienced rider for this one and I was pleased that this year they felt my daughter was experienced enough to do this hack with us. I did this hack a few years ago but to have my daughter with me this year was very precious and have given us brilliant memories.

I have a son who is on the autistic spectrum and the other year he had a lesson and then a hack that was perfectly catered to him.
A couple of years ago I was in a car accident that has left me with some ongoing difficulties, the team at the Rheidol have been brilliant at matching me with the right horse, understanding and adapting the lesson or ride if I'm having difficulty with any aspect and working with me so that I can continue to enjoy riding and my love of horses.

We have found all the staff to be very kind and supportive. All the horses have been well matched to each of us. If only we had a riding centre like this near us. We'd be regular patrons. We are already looking forward to visiting next year, I plan on getting hubby to join in too.

We look forward to seeing the team and horses again next year.

BHS Evening Course
Dec 2016 • Business
I booked a BHS evening Course, only to be taken an instant dislike to and treated though I shouldn't of been there! for the next three sessions there were snappy remarks etc. This attitude worked and it made me feel as though I should keep away even though I had paid around £296.00. The following week I turned up and went into reception area, This instructor walked in behind me, I said "Hi" nothing else, she started to scream and shout at me, she was that nasty that her eyes were out on stops while she was shouting!!! It took around four months through the BHS to get some of my money back. I was very upset, and disappointed.
