- JayCeeShropshire97 contributionsLovely clean and tidy little town.Very impressed with the town, beach and streets clean and tidy. Lots of work going on in readiness for summer putting seating and eating areas all across the front of beach. Street parking was free right through the town, probably hard to find a space in summer though. Unsure of other car parks. Just a mile up the road at colwyn bay there’s parking meters everywhere so didn’t even bother to stop.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 31, 2024

- Joy Black107 contributionsOne of Wales best kept secrets.A wonderful little town for a 3 generation family holiday, with ages spanning from 10 weeks to 72. The beach is clean and stretches for miles, linking up with Colwyn Bay. The water is clean and safe for bathing ,even for little ones[ supervised of course]. There is crabbing off the little jetty, a few rock pools to explore with lots of wild life - starfish, anemones, crabs, fish, shrimp, jelly fish and even some seals spotted off little Orme. Excellent cafes and few little shops to browse, and even a little crazy golf that's a bit of fun. Lovely little place, and must be one of the areas best kept secrets!Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 10, 2024
- Beekeeper5787 contributionsLovely, clean and with ample parking. We stumbled upon Rhos on Sea this morning on the way to Colwyn bay and decided to stop as we had plenty of time to spare. What a lovely place. Today the sun shone on an expanse of beach. We arrived about 10.30. It wasn't too busy, and to our amazement, parked right down by the beach for free. It looked as if the tarmac was new, and there were hundreds of spaces along a huge stretch. Many people were walking their dogs. Everything was clean, including the public toilets down near the little harbour like area. There was a general lack of horrible, tacky souvenir stalls which was a bonus as far as we are concerned. We bought coffees from a stall at a reasonable price, and spent about an hour or so just walking along and enjoying the sea air. I would definitely return.Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 19, 2024

We stayed, with our dog, at the Beachfront Apartment on the Promenade in Rhos on Sea in September 2024.
The apartment was a chance find on the internet. Booking was simple with the apartment owners making contact with arrival and check in details.
The apartment is small and compact, however its fantastic, great quality with everything you need for a short break. Tastefully decorated and with a very comfortable bed.
It's located on the promenade, a short stroll to the centre of Rhos on Sea and benefits from a dedicated off road parking space.
The owners live above the apartment, however they are not intrusive in anyway. We did meet them and what lovely hosts they are offering help in anyway you may need it.
We holiday often and have a few dedicated apartments we use, hopefully this will become one of them.
We will be back next year.

We have driven straight past this beach a number of times but when I saw a space to park right beside the beach we stopped. There were five people on the beach, lovely views across the harbour and sounds of the waves with masts rattling was perfect to lay back and relax. We always thought the road was so busy it would not be worth stopping here but you do not hear any of that it was a nice relaxing time and all the shops are opposite for essentials like ice cream and beer.

First the good points for this beach/resort. There is copious free car parking and several cafes/kiosks actually on the prom and in the immediate vicinity a plethora of cafes, restaurants, shops, pubs and public toilets and more car parking. Also an award winning chippie. The views are pleasant complete with a little harbour in front of the sea defence breakwater. The beach needs great care because there are significant areas of silt and mud (darker in colour) especially near the breakwater. Also at high tide the beach is under water with the water lapping up against the prom.
All is not lost because 10 minutes or so walk towards Colwyn Bay there is no silt or mud and, because the sand was imported, at high tide there is still an excellent beach and completely safe for kids (under supervision of course). The car parking here is not free and it is not as handy for the shops etc.

Conwy council decided to wait for 2 years untill covid restrictions lifted before trashing the prom and the beach. Yea, we hate tourists round here. Confrontational walk now offered on prom; best to walk west towards little orme. Forget about the beach, building site now. Another huge stash of council cash wasted, very few locals wanted this.

First time visit and we was impressed. The beach was clean and spotless and no litter about at all. There was a good selection of small independent shops and it was busy with plenty of people about. A great little resort, worth a visit.

We love coming here (and so does the dog!) especially since the new promenade opened. Beautiful beach that is dog friendly (unlike Rhyl) and amazing views. Just enough shops to tick the retail therapy box and plenty of cafés to sit and have a cake and coffee. Not as commercial as Llandudno or Prestatyn, so you can just relax and take your time. Highly recommended 👌

As far as I'm concerned this is the BEST little coastal resort on this coastline. It's traditional, clean, great little harbour and beach. Nice selection of shops and cafe's and a lovely welcome to visitors. Keep it like this please and don't develop it any further.

Hi!
Planning to spend new year in Conwy in a holiday apartment. We are taking the dog and was just wondering if the beach is dog friendly that time of year and if the dog will be welcome in various places?

The previous answer is spot on.
You might also consider going to Bryn Euryn in Rhos on Sea which is a very popular dog walking area of woods and fields with lovely views too. You can just follow the trails around or go right to the top from where you get a 360 view over to the Snowdonia range and Conwy, views of the sea to Anglesey and back up the coast towards Liverpool. There is a triangulation point at the top.
It’s located a short distance behind Hickory’s restaurant in Rhos and has ample parking.

Hi all,
Planning our first visit to Conwy late August and doing all the requisite research :). I was wondering do they supply/ can you buy crabbing gear on the pier?
We don't drive so limited in what we can take with us.
Thanks for reading

There is a fishing and crabbing shop about 25yards from the beach ,but if you can pick it up beforehand it would be advisable as the shop is expensive;bait is cheap though.

Is it any good for crab catching or rock pooling?
Written August 2, 2018
yes at high tide the water reaches the sea wall .We just dropped our line in over the wall and caught half a dozen

You have a cafe called ninos along the front on rhos which is lovely. But a hidden gem for cheaper but delicious food is red 16. Which is just opposite the spar in the centre of rhos. Do lovely brekkies.

The beach directly infront of the harbour at Rhos has a no dog ruling all year round, however the rest of Rhos beach is open to dogs from 1st October until 30th April.
