Lovely place! One of my facoruite one, it was so much fun. You start the hike at the cathedral ( 30k with a taxi from poblado) and until the waterfall it takes about 45 mins. There are some steep parts, but there are ropes to help, however you dont neccessarily need them. People with different fitness were doing it so I think it is for everyone. I would recommend to take a "taxi" for 50k from the gate guard back to the city and don't order one.

Salto del Angel is a fantastic waterfall to visit. Be warned it can be a difficult hike up and down treacherous wet and steep hills. At one point you actually have to climb down a rope because the hill is too steep and dangerous. I actually went in Dec 2020 not June 2021 and it was well worth the trip. To get to Salto del Angel you have to take a taxi from the Envigado train station up a long winding hill to La Cathedral that is the place Colombias notorious drug cartel was jailed. It has been turned in a living area for seniors citizens and has houses for sale. Once there you have to hike about an or so to Salto del Angel.

Getting there is quite a trek from Jardín. I suggest doing as much as possible on a mule as they're more sure-footed than horses.

Easy enough to get to as part of a hike, it would not be worthy of going to see on its own. However, if you want to go for a short hike out of town it adds to the hike. The trail can be wet and muddy so good footwear is a helpful

At the beginning we arrived at the Arenales waterfall, we climbed for approximately 50 minutes. Along the river until we reached a waterfall called La Miel, where we saw the first waterfall, we were there and bathed but the water was very cold since it was cloudy that day. Even so, we continued going up a path where we had to walk next. . 60 minutes, when we arrived we saw another waterfall called the bells,🔔, we were lighting a log and we entered a path that indicated the way to our destination “EL SALTO DEL ANGEL”, it was a little complex or quite a bit, since it is important bring good clothes, good shoes and access to a protection area, since to go down to the waterfall, you have to go down some rocks about 7 meters high with some ropes that we saw, we really thought that there was an exit since going up Again through the rock it could be complex and dangerous, but still, it was the only way out, so we decided to go up again, halfway, my boyfriend climbed a rock which was difficult for me to climb for approximately 20 minutes, he had a lot of vertigo. Since I am scared of heights, it was a big challenge for me, but I will achieve it in the end. We went up and noticed that the sunset had gone down, we looked at the clock and it was approximately 6 in the afternoon, and night had already fallen so we could hardly see anything, they gave us 1 hour to try to find the exit since to get out From where we arrived, it was approximately 3 hours, which would be very late to be in such a large and dangerous forest. It should be noted that it had rained the night before, therefore the ground was still wet, which caused many scrapes and falls on the ground. course, but we still passed the test…
It is important to bring food and hydration since you will not find shops if you go up the river, you can go up the road via the cathedral, it would be easier and faster, but we adventurers prefer difficulty and adventure.
