About
Teahupo’o Tahiti Surfari is a family venture, founded through our love for our “fenua” (our homeland) and our passion for surfing. We launched our services and charters in 2011, to make the beauty and power of Teahupo’o accessible to the media. This exposure placed our “home break”, on the international map of world-class surfing. As world travellers came to embrace Teahupo’o, we then expanded our charters to share Tahiti Iti’s other hidden secrets . Our expeditions begin at the “end of the road”, where we will explore those parts of the Tahitian peninsula in which mother nature remains untouched, as they are only accessible by boat! Uncover the richness of our “Fenua Aihere”, as we walk through lush forest to the caves of “Vaipoiri”, cruise below the cliffs of “Te Pari”, and swim in the crystal clear waters of the lagoon. During our austral winters, as southern hemispheric storms generate large swells in the South Pacific, you’ll be able to witness the phenomenon of Teahupo’o … one of the planet’s “heaviest” waves! The season (July - November) also brings humpback whales to our waters, who often take shelter along our barrier reefs and shore lines. Whatever the time of year, each experience is a true adventure! Whether you opt for a one-hour, half-day, or full-day excursion, come experience the beauty of Tahiti Iti and the vibrance of our Polynesian culture through Tahitian eyes. With over 30 years of experience, Bjarn, is one of Teahupo’o’s most highly respected boat captains. He is known for his mastery in navigating French Polynesia’s south swells in even the most extreme conditions. Matahi brings his free spirit and passion for surf as an expert guide to Teahupo’o and Tahiti Iti’s other reef breaks during our “surfari" expeditions. Cindy, one of the very few women to hold a BC200 captain’s license in all of French Polynesia, shares with you her love for the ocean and respect for marine wildlife, and brings you to those special spots along the peninsula, which served as her childhood playground. For tourists and locals alike, you’ll get a true taste of the islands with Otilia’s “Ma’a Tahiti”, traditional Polynesian cuisine. Savor the natural sweetness of freshly squeezed coconut milk over ‘uru (breadfruit), taro, fresh-caught fish, and of course, the best “poisson cru” in Tahiti Iti! We hope to leave you with unforgettable memories of your trip to the “wild side” of Tahiti!

The love and ties with the land that Cindi and her family show make this a very special and memorable tour.
This is a part of Tahiti some people wil lreally appreciate seeing and experiencing - thank you for sharing it with us!
My only advice is that Cindi, her mom and team will respond to the reactions of the people on board. So be engaged, talk to your fellow passengers, you will make new friends. We did.

When asked what our favorite part of our 3 week French Polynesia trip was, my husband and I both start telling stories about our adventures with Cindy and Bjarn. And the thing is, we usually aren't into tours - but this is so far from your run of the mill cheesy touristy packages.

This was an exclusive full-day boat trip past the "end of the road" to experience the big wave at Teahupoo, a unique snorkeling adventure, jungle hiking to an underground freshwater cave, river rope swinging, dolphins frolicking alongside our boat, coastal hike to a beach filled with gorgeous cowry shells and another waterfall, a super special experience in an oceanfront waterfall grotto and special treats at Grandma's house - all just for our little family of 5. The great part was that our 70 year old parents were able to enjoy the boat trip and even the hike to the freshwater cave, but had the option to hang back in the boat and chat it up with Bjarn ... while my husband, fearless 7 year, and I joined Cindy on the other adventures. Great for families!

Not only did we enjoy a ton of wonderful new experiences, we also felt very safe and cared for by the incredibly capable, intelligent, gracious and thoughtful Cindy and her warm and welcoming father Bjarn. They gave of massive flexibility and freedom to enjoy our time with them while at the same time be alert to safety and everyone's comfort level. A perfect combo!

And to top it off - we felt it was a GREAT VALUE. Tahiti is expensive, but we felt this full day trip for our whole family was a fantastic deal. Do not miss it.

TIP - BOOK EARLY! We almost missed out on this wonderful journey because we didn't look into reserving until a few days before, but a series of happy coincidences ensured that we had the chance to share in this memorable day. Luck on our side again!

We just returned from an amazing trip to Tahiti and Moorea, it is true paradise. One of the best and most memorable experiences was with Cindy and Bjarn. Our group was lucky enough to book a fantastic day with Teahupoo Tahiti Surfari. Not only did we see a part of the island with majestic waterfalls, beautiful lagoons and fresh water cave ponds but we finished the day at their family's home to eat dinner after learning how to make the Tahitian culinary dish, Poisson Cru. Please make sure to book an excursion with Cindy and her family on your trip, it is a must add to your Tahitian experience.

We booked a full-day boat tour for four people and drove nearly an hour to get to there. When we arrived, we were told the trip was cancelled because of the weather forecast. However, when we booked, we had emailed our contact information (the name of the hotel) but were not contacted about the cancellation. This seemed extremely irresponsible and inconsiderate.

Thank you for your comment. We always now recommend to our guests to contact us one day before to confirm the tour also to check with the concierge if they don't have a message from us before they leave their place, Plus we double check with the hotel/lodge if people have well received our message. it happens that due to bad weather conditions/forecasts we cancel our tours for safety reasons but also because we want our guests to enjoy to the fullest their day with us and unfortunately sometimes it rains under the coconut trees. Thank you again for your feedback and we are sorry again for this bad time.

We had a fabulous day with Cindy and Bjarn. They were so warm and friendly and shared much about this beautiful part of Tahiti 'beyond the road'. Sitting beside the waves thundering in at the famous Teahupoo was amazing, a very special experience watching them and the surfers. Other highlights were the waterfalls, mini lava tubes and cave. Cindy was wonderful with our teenage son as she was willing to climb waterfalls and drop from ropes into pools with him making his experience so much fun. We also had a beautiful traditional Tahitian lunch provided by her family in a magnificent spot. A memorable, very affordable, day that should not be missed !

Tahiti is an expensive place, but with Teahupoo Tahiti Surfari you get so much more than what you pay for. I spent 3 months at 'the end of the road' and did a number of full and half day tours and surf trips to the reefs and Teahupoo. I loved every minute of each expedition. On one of these tours you will be taken beyond the end of the road, to places few people have been and one of the last untouched frontiers our wonderful world has left. Cindy, Bjarn, Matahi and Outillia are exceptionally knowledgeable and always act safely and sensibly. Even if you have only a few days in Tahiti, don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity. A trip with Teahupoo Tahiti Surfari should be your absolute priority.

We LOVED our excursion with Cindy and her parents. The boat trip around the secluded parts of Tahiti Iti. We enjoyed an amazing hike up to an incredible waterfall, cave and river. A wonderful way to spend an afternoon and see one of the most beautiful areas of Tahiti. Well worth the drive to Tahiti Iti. :)

Thank you for your feedback. What a pleasure to have met you all. Indeed you cannot say you visit Tahiti if you haven't experience Teahupoo beyond the end of the road with our team.

We were in Tahiti for one day on a recent cruise ship tour of the Pacific and we took the gamble that if we drove down to Teahupoo we would find a boat to take us to the famous reef surf break. How lucky were we to find Brian and Cindy's Teahupoo Tahiti Surfari so close to the break. For just $25.00 US per head we had an hour out at the reef with Brian watching some surfers and getting the low down on all the local customs. This was a fantastic way to see Teahupoo up close and Brian was a very competent boat operator and knowledgeable guide. We were fortunate enough to find them on not such a busy day and didn't have to wait but I would imagine when the surf is large it would require some planning. Great experience.

We had hired a private guide for a Te Pari hike, and he arranged our boat transfer with Cindy and her family. They were just really friendly, warm, and welcoming people. On the way out, we even got a glimpse of a humpback whale. Upon returning, we all hung out and enjoyed some fresh limeade in their backyard. This was our second visit to Teahupoo, and we have found that it is a great place to catch a glimpse of how real Tahitians live. I will definitely look them up for an excursion on our next visit - hopefully soon!
