Compact heritage centre overflowing with local flavour
Aug 2021
This heritage centre has collected local historical information, some of which is still within living memory, as demonstrated by the two staff on duty who commented on different exhibits.
There are audio descriptions of many of the exhibits, and, being spoken by local people have an integrity about them. Where else would you hear about Grandma who so detested the smell of the pig killing that she stuffed mint leaves up her nose!!
The first area of the centre houses a changing display, and I saw an interesting one on local photographers.

A series of well presented exhibitions, including tools, artefacts, photographs audio-visual guides and related paraphernalia gives you an interesting insight into the local history of the area with regards to all aspects of day to day life. The volunteers I spoke to were very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and friendly.

Worth a visit
Jun 2021
Friendly staff, interesting gifts and cards, bargain prices on some things. We were too late in the afternoon to visit the exhibition unfortunately.

A Font of Knowledge
Jun 2021
Meeting the staff there this week was a terrific experience such was their knowledge and willingness to go above and beyond to ensure we got the right information to ensure we got to walk alongside Hadrian's Wall and visit The Sill and Steel Rigg during a short window on our long journey back south following a wonderful holiday in Northumberland.

It is people like the lady and gentleman on duty in this lovely heritage Centre who by their wealth of knowledge and experience enhance a holiday and in this instance they put the icing on the cake at the end of an unforgettable week so many many thanks to Bellingham Heritage Centre and all involved.

Friendly cafe in old railway carriage
Nov 2019
I stumbled across this while exploring the area. It's a simple cafe in an old railway carriage serving coffee, tea, cake etc. The coffee and cake were spot on and the dtaff were all friendly. I'll allow longer next tie and look at the visitor centre. The station building looks interesting too but that's occupied by businesses.

Just a short visit but so much to see, a fascinating collection; we must call back next time we visit. Handy cafe at carriages next door too!

Great Value
Oct 2019 • Couples
Very kindly let us in at a family rate of £6 (there were four of us, two couples). Very interesting learning about the history of the area, particularly the farming side of things. Best part was the list British sheep - it came in handy on our walks over the following days!

Lovely interesting museum

Worth a visit. Particularly for railway and photgraphy buffs. Overall about local history. Well laid out. Lots to see. Tourist items to buy. Museum is a little way out of the village centre so you need to find lication (but its not far to walk).
